Bills are a nightmare matchup for Miami

This is a hard game to gauge because it seems like the last several years has either been us dominating Buffalo or laying a complete egg. I do think this game could be a bit more frustrating in that Buffalo will be much more committed to the run than the Pats were (and with it looking like 3 reserve LBs will be playing again that could be troublesome), but I would not call the Bills a match up nightmare.

The D-Line is gonna be a real test, I think everybody agrees with that. I think with the LBs and safeties being what they are for Buffalo, Charles Clay becomes a must start in fantasy.

But like I said, the biggest concern for me is that Buffalo won't just go away from the run like the Pats do. It could cause a lot of issues.

As was said in Platoon, instead of hump hump and hump........run run and run. Moreno Moreno and more Moreno.

quick short passes to keep Tanny upright mixed in. This is also a game where I could see 2 or 3 designed off tackle runs by RT to keep the pass rush honest.
I don't see Buffalo scoring more than 17-20. So three really good drives and a turnover or two should win this in a close one.

Why wouldn't you put money on the Bills after the thoughts you have presented in this thread?

Because I don't trust the Bills.

I've been a fan for a long time so I know that you can't trust them to play to their potential. I know you can't go based off of one weeks worth of performance.

The Bills have an extremely talented defense and RB core. Their defense, when playing at full potential, can shut down most offenses and terrorize QB's. Their RB's WILL get yards. But do I trust them to play to full potential every game? Pfft. Not a chance.

Dude, you're just giving yourself an out for when we win on Sunday. Back yo team man!

I do back my team.

I want them to win.

I will be there Sunday tailgating and screaming my fool head off.

But I'm not a homer. I say things like they are. Sorry.

I could see the Bills winning by 20, losing by 20 and everything inbetween.

Is this Junc's bills persona?

Back to back ... *head starts smoking* .... division... game... wins?

Last year was last year....we had a porous O-line that could neither pass or run block.

5 New starters that did both pretty well last week.

If we stop their run we win.....if we can't it will be a close game.

We can't turn the ball over like we did against New England though.

Is this Junc's bills persona?

What have I said thats even remotely confrontational?

That either team could win?

That 1 game doesn't mean anything has changed?

That the Bills defense and run game is good but QB sucks and WR's have not proven themselves yet?

What was it?

I keep hearing about the d-line of Buffalo, but what about their secondary? Do they have the personnel to cover Hartline, Gibson and Landry? Who is their ace to cover Wallace all game? Anyone better than Revis that Mike scorched last week?
With Tannehill throwing much quicker, this awesome d-line of Buff me low may not be the factor it was last year.

The Bills secondary managed to cover Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffery well enough to win despite missing starting CB Stephon Gilmore. Cutler/Marshall/Jeffery >>> Tannehill/Wallace/Hartline et al. Chicago had the NFL's 2nd best offense behind Denver last year, and they're expected to about as good this year. The Bears' issues last season were all on the defensive side.

With a fresh 7th round pick ROOKIE going against Cameron Wake. Yeah, sure okay bud.

Seantrel Henderson was rated at least a 2nd round talent who fell to the 7th round because he had disciplinary/off-field issues in college. He seems to have gotten his head on straight since he turned pro, however, and has been a very pleasant surprise. He pushed the Bills starting RT, Erik Pears, over to RG.

Kyle Williams was well off his game. This is a guy who was been dominant... the quickest defender off the ball the NFL has seen since Leon Lett. He is mostly a hand fighter now. It was actually a bit sad to see, even as a Dolphins fan. I'm not surprised you're taking the homer view of his game but trust me, I have been singing the man's praises for years. The int, for example, was an absolute gift from Cutler. The fact that you even mention it says everything.

I'm not faulting Schwartz for playing passively. Cutler likes to throw down the field and Marshall and Jeffery are impossible to play much press man against. Cover 4 and cover 6 are the right move against them. They're simply not the right move against us.

Why do you assume that Schwartz is going to use the same schemes against the Dolphins as he did against the Bears? He has an excellent record as a DC, so this isn't his first rodeo. Tannehill to Mike Wallace or Brian Hartline is NOT nearly as potentially dangerous as Cutler to Marshall or Jeffery. Miami is much more like the Bills than either team is like Chicago. Different teams, different game plans.

I think I'm one of the few Bills fans who did NOT bemoan the loss of Mike Pettine. Last year, Pettine's attacking, gambling style worked well for the DL personally (3 of 4 went to the Pro Bowl), NOT so well for the Bills LBs (and the run defense) and the team's win-loss record, so I'm more than willing to give Schwartz the benefit of the doubt.

The Bills have added two LBs to help against the run: Manny Lawson and Brandon Spikes. Unfortunately, they won't have last year's outstanding rookie LB, Kiko Alonso, who is on IR, but they'll get Nigel Bradham, who's taking his place, back from a 1 game suspension. They seem significantly improved against the run.

The Bills game has always worried me the most of the early season games. I had assumed we would be 0-1 going into this, so I feared an 0-2 hole in the division. With the Pats game won, I can breathe a bit easier. I still think there is a decent chance we drop this game though. There are a lot of factors going against us in this matchup.

That being said I am a lot more hopeful than I was a week ago

I dunno man. Cutler threw for 350 yards and lost in OT. Cutler is 4th in the league in yards right now picking up right where he left off from last season. He's a gunslinger and if he manages to not throw it to the other team a few times he'll win. Thats just Cutler being Cutler.

"They are a tough team, will we be tougher. Forget about past records in this game."

Not sure which is more alarming, the fact that the Dolphins fan in the OP finished a question with a period or his analytical ability. Forget about the deep ball completely? I didn't watch every snap of the Bills week 1 game, but I'm pretty sure Marshall and Jeffery had pretty decent days against Buffalo's corners. I also know that those two guys are not unfamiliar with catching the football downfield.

This game is going to be different than last years two contests just for the fact that for Buffalo it won't be a "let's meet at the quarterback two seconds after the ball is snapped" game for their defensive line. No road division game is easy and I expect it to be a hard fought game, but in the end we are a better football team and we will win this game.

Exactly. The Bills held Chicago's offense to 2 TDs and 2 FGs. Aside from their opening drive where they scored on 2 or 3 plays, Chicago racked up yards but NOT many points as the Bills D employed a "bend but don't break" style to force Cutlet to throw a lot for NOT much on the scoreboard. Miami's offense simply isn't as dangerous as Chicago's ... NOT many teams' offenses are. My point is that the Bills DBs are capable of handling most passing games.

Neither Marshall or Jeffrey led the Bears in receiving if that tells you anything.

Matt Forte did.

the cutler pick was a nice play by kyle williams...he just kept flowing down to the ball and undercut it...nice effort by the dt to continue to try and get in the play...but it was also a cutler special...he does some dumb things sometimes

these bills fans are underestimating our new offense...it wont be as cookie cutter as the one the bears showed...more motion more late movement more declaring of coverage by the defense as a result...passing out of read option action etc
