Let the Herald think what they want. The Media is looking to over-hype every tiny thing. The things I found ridiculous in the report were:
1) The "surprise" that we hired a coordinator who had never been one before! Oh, boy, that's amazing! What is it with this reasoning that the only coordinators you can hire are guys who've been coordinators already? Who hired them? Does the fact that someone ELSE hired a guy make him more qualified or a better fit? It's an absurd argument!
2) Wannstedt losing control of personnel. So what? This is a positive for the team and they treat it like a negative?
3) Will Poole spending 5 days in jail on a DUI. As if we didn't know that already? And, that's the reason he was available in round 4 instead of early round 2 in the first place! They knew of the DUI and that there would likely be consequences. So what? It was a low risk, high reward potential pick.
I could point to any number of "events" in other team's off-season and list them all as negatives. They just listed everything and then put them ALL in the negative category - which they aren't, necessarily.
Certainly, it has been an off-season with a lot of unexpected twists. But, quite frankly, after the last two years, there's nowhere to go but up for this team. Whether we are 9-7, 10-6 or 4-12 - if we don't make the playoffs, we're in the same boat as 20 other teams. I like the fact that a lot is going on and still have confidence that the team will be better - b/c we have better talent at our weakest spots and we have improved the coaching staff, imo.
