This is correct.
But the question is...does he make the Fins a championship contender this year? If the answer is no (and it is), will he sign a multi-year deal?
If the answer to that is no, then don't sign him.
The easy answer is no, we are not a contender for the Super Bowl in 2020. We just aren’t. But I’m very curious how close that this incredibly young team can be.
Clowney swings the pendulum. He cares more about football than he’s given credit for too. His talent is still on par with the best in the game.
Six plays from the offensive line to show the struggles from the Seahawks game
The return of Staley and McGlinchey was not enough to stymie Jadeveon Clowney and the Seahawks pass rush.

For those of you (not you Goat) hell bent on pointing out sacks as some kind of end all, you might want to check out this link with big play after big play Clowney makes because of his talent that don’t always show up on the stat sheet. That’s against one of the best OLs in the NFL and a top pick at LT in McGlinchey, who surely is praying JC doesn’t return to Sea.
And while watching those videos, try and remind yourself of how much more talented Christian Wilkins is than Al Woods.
And then there is the main draw for signing JC. The corners. He’s never played with a corner as good as Howard or Jones, let alone both them. If I were Clowney and I was looking at a one year deal, signing with the team that has the most talented set of CBs in the NFL makes a lot of sense. Sacks would pile up.
At the end of the day I don’t want to give out a bad a contract but if I can sign him to a little more money than Jarvis Landry makes, I think I’m getting a steal. Here we are 5 years removed from giving Suh $22-$23 mil. Still looks great by comparison.
I get why they should AND shouldn’t sign him.
If they do go hard after him, message received about their intentions.
