Could have Fixed RB and QB

Dude you make my blood boil every time you bring up that guy, worse than Cam Cam... err... wait

if you take a look at Saban's drafts and legacy, Cam was no walk in the park either but a)we wouldn't have had him if not for the quitter and b)he wasn't really left much to work with. IMO Saban and JJ did more fundamental damage to this franchise than all the Cams and Wannys combined.

Never draft a RB in Round 1

This. This. This.

I understand the frustration with our QB situation, but passing up on Ingram...no. I'd say RB is the easiest transition from the college level to the NFL and you can find productive RBs well after the 1st round (like the rushing leader from last year, Arian Foster, who was undrafted). As long as your offensive line can run block, your RB can be good. Look at what the Broncos did several years ago. Anyone they plugged in was productive.

Yes it is true we could have fixed our RB and Qb problems this year if we would have taken Ingram in the first and then Mallett in the second we would all be talking about how much of a stud Ingram is (as the Saints fans are) and we probably would have been all calling for Henne to be benched for Mallett after our first preseason game, but alas our front office ****ing sucks and we have Pounch who could be very good or might just turn out to be another guard and then we got Thomas who just might never translate to a starting NFL back...

It is all pretty depressing if you ask me, when can we get a ****ing break from stupidity, the fan bass should not be better talent evaluators than the front office...

mallett not as good as people making it out. lets see what the rook does when stingy D staring down his slow ***.

 What is the point of this thread? Grandma could have been born with balls, but would she really be Grandma then?? Stop living in the past, we have a good team, just wait until we have ONE regular season game before throwing in the towel.

Exactly!!! Did you see how bad my Buckeyes treated him in the Sugar Bowl??? I think they sacked him 4 times. Heyward had 3. He is too slow and has no pocket presence.

That's how it is with the Dolphins for the past 15 years or so. Could have drafted Randy Moss, Brees, Boldin, could have signed Brees, could have drafted Aaron Rodgers, could have drafted Frank Gore, could have, should have everything. Get used to it.

This statements is not that accurate. Johnson traded down in the draft and did not expect Moss to fall as far as he did. Brees was a huge mistake - this was a very bad mistake at the time when miami was on the clock. The other players after watching their careers since the draft you can say miami made a mistake but that is not really fair.

So you're saying he's like Henne then.

Personally, I'm okay with the Pouncey pick, so long as this regime is tying their careers to Henne. It means this "OL specialist" may finally build a decent line for the next staff.

As for RB, MikeO already said it. Never in the first round. Not in today's football or unless you already have a SB competing team, and even then I think the Saints made a mistake.

Drafting those two would have been great. I would have been happy with ATLEAST one of the two. Something must have swayed the phins from not drafting mallett. Or maybe they are in "win now" mode and were sure to get a vet QB. OOPS!

But they didn't do that.

Yeah we need somebody that's experienced at throwing pics!

Never draft a RB in Round 1

I think the Vikes are pretty happy with Peterson... That blanket opinion is nonsense, if a guy is a great prospect and he fits a need at rb, you take him rd 1.
Same thing with Ingram - if he ends up being a beast nd DT stinks obviously we ****ed up! I say if anything u never draft a ****ing center in rd 1.

rarely is there that once in a decade running back.

1987: Seven running backs were chosen in the first round of this draft. Not one had a single season with at least 1,000 rushing yards. In fact, only two of the seven -- Brent Fullwood (Green Bay, fourth overall) and Rod Bernstine (San Diego, 25th overall) managed to rush for 1,500 yards over their entire careers. The rest of the first round featured flops like Alonzo Highsmith and D.J. Dozier. Christian Okoye went in the second round of this draft, but the other two second-rounders, Kenny Flowers of Atlanta and Don Smith of Tampa Bay, combined for a career total of 250 rushing yards.

Forget drafting Ingram. We still draft Pouncy and then draft Mallet. Then resign Ronnie and still trade for Bush.

This should have been the plan, instead we let Ricky and Ronnie go while they are still better backs then D Thomas is (not to mention faster). I would have rather us take another offensive lineman in the 2nd then D Thomas. And instead of taking the most NFL ready QB in Ryan Mallet we pick up a FA in Matt Moore who is not even being allowed to compete for the starting QB job. We also could have kept and used the two draft picks we used to trade up for Thomas.

And as a Gator fan and Grad (who still lives in Gainesville) that this Pouncey is not his brother and is not a natural center. Once again this OL coach who was promoted to HC can't seem to draft good OLmen.

Next year Sparano is going to be a OL coach somewhere while this team is blown up again.

Just think about the reasons that the Saints are a Super Bowl team and we are not a play off team.

They do better in free agency then we do and better in the draft, not to mention coaching in general.

They let Bush go, drafted Ingram and signed D Sproles to replace Bush. They know Bush pretty well and they gave him away, replaced him with a better/cheaper/less injured scatback and while also drafting a franchise running back.
