Could The Dolphins OL Be Worse This Year?

Understood. I use PFF n FA players I have not seen much of, and they spend the 10 hours to grade a single game. If you want to talk about the Phins, I watch the OL a secnf time every game, and can tell you that Jerry was good- Vg in pass protect, sucked on the run, and that Clabo played very well in the last 9 games. Either of those, I will dispute myself, with no help from PFF.

I agree it's a useful resource, I do the same. There's guys out there who are better scheme fits and will benefit from one of the best OL coaches out there. The draft is very deep. If we bring in a guy like Colledge and focus more resources than I'd like on the OL in the draft it will be a better unit, assuming we pick the right guys.

If we're just gonna base our evaluation on PFF, then we're set at 3 positions and we've upgraded 2. Smith had great #'s according to PFF, Albert did as well and we still have Pouncey. That would mean we need to upgrade on Jerry and Clabo, Jerry and an FA guard is close to a wash so if we add one really we just need to find a way to fix RT. Clabo played well down the stretch, but if we've upgraded at guard and LT, Pouncey should improve with more talent. It's a better OL then last year then, even the same one would be better with the new coaching.

You cannot base you evaluations strictly on PFF numbers, you have to actually see them play. Pass protection is not the only way to judge an OL and if they were as bad as PFF say they were, there would have been no way for the Bears to set franchise records for total net yards, net passing yards, and first downs while paving the way for Matt Forte to set a career high in rushing yards.

The thread was based on pass protect. If we're talking about run blocking, we absolutely SUCKED, and I'm on record as saying that this was the worst run blocking OL ever in Miami.

Agree on the coaching but, need to give him something to work with. Colledge may work but, he is not here, and i cannot count on any draft picks.

As to PFF on Smith, he had a good overall grade based on the run but, they had him as a disaster in pass protect.

Jerry was a disaster versus the run...I'd rather have a road grader at guard as long as he gets help. We already knew we'd have to count on at least one draft pick this year, there's plenty of worthy guys.

Well my Aunt and Uncle whose house I am at every Sunday to watch the fins are huge Chiefs fans.....sooooooo....

As we are not talking about any KC payers, I have no idea as to what you are talking about. Maybe you should let uncle and auntie post. JK/LOL

He was, and then some. However he did protect RT, and I like Smith but, have concerns of a rush up the gut with him starting.

I did not want to go into this draft needing 2-3 on the OL. There is too much other talent but.FA is dried up for anything more than 1 year guys. JMO

Of course it can be. Four new starters. How can anyone predict how well the unit will play?
