Crossman In, Rizzi Out

Always liked Rizzi but WOWSER IMO he's just incredibly overrated in these parts

as if a ST coach is a preeminent commodity and OMG how will we ever deal...

Point of fact he got his lunch ate several times in 1 game this year and

yea he's a FG kicker genius but really???

It's way better he moves on because he obviously is NOT in the same circle Flores is channeling...

Believe me. The franchise can survive without Darren Rizzi -- who got like ZERO INTEREST in the league

as anything other than a ST coach.

My opinion. Of course.
Let's be honest, we flock to any part of the team who shows anything. Rizzi was solid, above avg, but exaggerated by being a shiny turd on a bad pile of ****. I thpught ko returns were subpar, kicking game solid, on side above avg

Best to let a captain build his own crew that he trusts than force one on him.

Being able to prepare for Super Bowl while building a competent staff is a good sign that being a HC isn't going to be too much for Flores.

Apparently Crossman was targeted by Flores, in case Rizzi left. Rizzi is in advanced negotiations with another team, according to Twitterverse.

Difficult situation after Rizzi was given a token interview despite the team already choosing Flores. IMO he’s just not head coach material

The writing was on the wall the 2nd he didnt get the HC job and that's fine. I didnt realize o'shea was in charge of the Patriots red zone, maybe he can use Gesicki more effectively.

Maybe just maybe in 2019 we will have better things to praise than just our ST coordinator and kicker lol.

I doubt the scouting department said "Charles Harris" was a better prospect than "T J Watt"

That was our great gm who wanted Harris.
Of course our scouting department was valuing Asiata as a second rounder and almost grabbed him there. Glad we cleaned house.

That same GM brought you X.Howard. So what of it?

X was very good. Concerned about a scouting department who valued asiatavso highly and ignored a coach who wanted Desmond king and cooper kupp. I am worried about getting best talent. Not sure our scouting department does that

He also reported that Flores had decided "to go another direction". You leave that part out.

I think my first sentence implied that he wanted to go in another direction - Didnt leave anything out!

No, here is what you wrote:
"Jackson argued that Rizzi didnt want to remain after not getting HC job. How is that an error by the presumed new HC? "

Your comment makes it appear that Flores had no involvement with this when it is clear from Jackson's report that Flores wanted to hire someone else.

whats been so great about our special teams?
His units have been good. Under him we get punt and KO return TDs, block a lot of kicks too. Coverage is generally good. That said, I don’t think it matters THAT much in that w/out a QB and an offense that can score more than 19 PPG we could have Flipper coaching ST and our record would be the same.

Hopefully, Karl Dorrell is a pure position coach 'cause his UCLA teams were weak-minded.

They were all over the place. Wild swings from game to game and season to season. As soon as the team would be ranked high it would get blasted.

I thought it was kind of interesting. USC fans obviously delight in mocking UCLA but Karl Dorrell had one huge scalp that lingers to this day. USC was still in the Pete Carroll heyday and heading for the championship again until Dorrell and the Bruins shocked USC, 13-9, as 13.5 point home underdogs in 2006. USC had walked all over the Bruin defense a year earlier but in 2006 UCLA had one pivotal short yardage stop after another.

Then somehow UCLA was favored over Florida State in the bowl game, as a result of that victory over USC. Made no sense. Everything tends to drift back to the beginning. Florida State was ranked much higher than UCLA in preseason, and properly destroyed the Bruins in that bowl game. That's a great angle for the bowl games, when the higher rated team from preseason becomes the underdog.

Anyway I know Karl Dorrell has had several subsequent stops -- including here -- but I'll always think of him as UCLA head coach during those final 4 or 5 years that I lived in Las Vegas. Every week in the sportsbooks I'd hear Bruin fans talking about Dorrell and whether or not to keep him.

Dorrell was also a good lanky receiver for the Bruins in the '80s.

Hindsight is a very easy thing to do. I'm sure by the same token they have gotten a lot of "Don't draft that guy" right too!
