Darlington: Dolphins players and front office people confused with Ireland's plan

Well you tell everyone you're keeping Yeremiah Bell, that his a tough competitor and one of your key guys...then you wait till the Jets sign thier safety and Cincy re-signs Nelson and release Bell so he has no where to go...yeah, Ireland has a bad reputation and it's only getting worse. That's not the way you do business.

Wow.... If this is the case, I guess Ireland should have released him early to do Bell a favor and have the Jets sign him just in time, or the Bengals couldve signed him so the Jets could sign Nelson...

Unbelievable, I always thought A good way to to do business is to do whats best for your team, not whats best for the player

You made an excellent point, but it just goes to show Ireland played it smart...he sure fooled those Jets...and as for Bell, well, he's made alot of money and im sure he'll find somewhere to play

Fire Ireland and promote Brian Gaine to interim GM (avoid Rooney rule violation). Next season do a full search and if Gaine proves himself in the draft and season he'd the front runner.

Yes, I suppose that is both the logical, and realistically only option at the moment. It's really just mind boggling to think what has happened to this franchise. I honestly can not comprehend the amount of what appears to be total and complete ineptitude from one organization, for so long.

oh no, ireland didn't gather all the players before free agency started and tell all of them exactly what he wanted to do in free agency and the draft? i'm sure none of them would have told anybody or tweeted any of the team's plans. damn you ireland! don't you know the players watch NFL network! lmao
some people will support this clown no matter what.

Enough is enough. I gave him a last chance to see how he handled this QB upgrade and he failed. Sadly, the Dolphins need to start over yet again.

our franchise is in shambles, im embarrassed to say im a dolphins fan to my friends, im like a laughing stock when it comes t football...smh

yeah...irelands reputation is just completely in the tank...he's got to go...i don't care if he's made some solid draft picks...we are getting way too many reports from players about this guy being a dishonest jerk...low balling offers etc

but i think the chances it happens given ross wouldn't take power from ireland during the fisher courting are pretty darn slim...maybe next offseason

Most GMs don't tell players the plan, I'd like to know what FO guy actually said anything too. It is so easy to pile on and kick people while they're down. I really hope we have another good-great draft, and just stick it to all these idiots.

At what cost? Bell has been a loyal employee to the organization you do right by him. If he's not good enough to play for your team then why would you be afraid to release him so he could find a new home? Obviously you don't think he's good enough.

Oh don't worry, I'm sure there's still a few Ireland supporters hanging around that can enlighten us to his genius.

At this point, I'm positive we're in one of the circles of hell.

True. But they don't need to because it's evident.

Ireland would be a good scout but it's become painfully clear that he shouldn't be in charge of anything

GMs don't tell players the plan, it becomes obvious after a while. Our players are confused because of what we've been doing, just like the fans.

Ireland's reputation started going downhill in 2009 when he asked Dez Bryant if his mom was a prostitute. That's just stupidity at it's finest.

Wow i travel to multiple nfl cities weekly, and you don't hear this everyday more like never! Not even in CLEVELAND!

that's exactly right...and don't think that players around the league and even on this team don't see this stuff...they do...and it sticks...just more fuel for the flames
