Dolphins Exploring Osi Umenyiora

This makes total sense to me ... if you want to win with fist-pumps and field goals you better have a smoking hot defense.

If the Dolphins trade for osi and give him more than 6 a year I am really done with this team. Why would you give up a 2nd round pick and give him a 5yr/12 mil a year contract (thats what he wants) when he is about to turn 30 and the 4-3 D is his bread and butter. But yet we wont give a starting caliber QB 12 mil a year. The draft pick really doesnt matter to me since we never draft BPA or good players period with few exceptions. Kyle Orton is not the best QB in football but he light years ahead of Henne and Moore and Harrington, Culpepper, Green and so on. We just need a game manager like Penny but Orton can actually throw the ball too. Osi is a great 4-3 player but most people cant convert to a 3-4 for some reason. If we pay him 12 we could have had Asomugha and moved Smith to Safety. We could have had Bradshaw, Manny Lawson, and Dawan Landry for what we will pay for Osi. Or 2 mil short of Tulloch, bradshaw, Kosier, and Lawson. Id rather spend the money on Braylon edwards and Dashon Goldon or Donte Whitner than Osi and keep the pick

I almost gave you your first "Thanks"... But then I reread the line where you said you'd be done with the team if they pulled the trigger on Osi. Wouldn't be first on my list of ways to spend money or picks, but I wouldnt abandon them for it. After your first sentance I agree with most of what you said.

I can see New England signing Osi and then watch him put Henne out for the season in Game 1. Of course many people would be cheering if that happened

Come on, you know that Sparano only wants an offense that is a 3 yards and cloud of dust and field goal kicking system. He loves an offense that only averages 13 points per game.

Well just speculating but I never heard of the Giants/Patriots working with each other. Giants may trade him to the Patriots just for the sake of building a relationship with that team in future transactions.

He's just as fine with 12 ppg as he is 13.. As that is 4 fg/game. What more could a man ask for?

So Jerry Reese can be added to the list of GMs who Belichick has dirty laundry on? Why ANY TEAM would want to build a relationship with them for future transactions is beyond me...but it always happens, which is whats sickening.

The Giants reportedly had wanted a first-round pick for disgruntled defensive end Osi Umenyiora. Now, the Giants reportedly want a second-round pick for Osi.

The new report comes from Mike Preston of the Baltimore Sun, who also reports that the Ravens and Patriots are two of the teams considering making the deal. Ralph Vacchiano of the New York Daily News has reported that the Rams, Chargers, Seahawks, and Broncos also are interested.

The bigger impediment remains making Umenyiora happy with a new contract. Per Preston, the Ravens likely would have to sign defensive tackle Haloti Ngata to a new deal that would drop his cap number from that eight-figure franchise tender.

Even then, it’s a risk, given Umenyiora’s injury history. Still, Preston reports that several of the Ravens’ bigwigs are urging G.M. Ozzie Newsome to do the deal.

Well one thing is for certain, there seems to be a general consensus among the teams running a 3-4 defense that Osi would have no trouble adjusting to playing in a 3-4 defense.

Apparently 10 forced fumbles will make a defender very popular in the NFL.

I don't think Osi is worth a 2nd and 12 million a year even if it's a team that desperately needs a pass rusher. Miami signing him would really really piss me off and I think that it would be super dumb. We don't need him especially at that price. Not a fan at all. Much rather have Orton for a third and a much smaller contract. You know....actually fill a position of need that also happens to be the most important position. Good Lord

As much as I would like a guy like Osi, I just can't believe that the front office is happy with the state of the offense. The OL is far from settled and if we don't get better QB play, we will need a top 5 defense just to stand a chance of 8-8.

What an epic troll job by this GM Davenport guy. He stirred up all kinds of **** based off nothing.
