Dolphins Love DT Jonathan Allen - Our Big FA Fish?

There are two down sides to signing Johnathan Allen.

1) He's already 30 yrs old.
2) His contract will be sizable. Perhaps pricing out Miami.

He's certainly talented and would add tremendous leadership in Miami. But with a draft loaded with talent at the DT position, it might be wiser to invest F/A dollars into other areas of need. I'd certainly be happy if Allen wants to play for the Dolphins, and if it becomes reality, I'd be a huge fan.
Are you a politician in real life???

That tends to happen when the starting QB misses more than one third of the season.
It also tends to happen when the GM doesnt build a professional OL or sign a legitimate backup QB when you know you have the most fragile starting QB in the league.

No. Fins did not even make the playoffs. How can you say he did good?
Are you being serious or just putting me on? They had a losing record and didnt make the playoffs.

They didnt make the playoffs because the QB got hurt. Don’t be foolish. The players he signed last year were very good additions.

You can’t dismiss that he had did a good job with the players he signed last year. Which is the point of this debate your having.

You suggested he was going to make bad signings.

Hope you have a lot of friends willing to help you live those goal posts.

Given that we were unwilling to throw mega-money at Christian Wilkins, I'm gonna say that we won't spend big on Allen either.

Oh, if his price is low enough, he's a nice target, but with the DL talent so... so deep in this draft, I'll bet against this happening.

Oh I forgot, he did a great job with the OL and Backup QB. If you think that a losing season was a success than I guess that about sums it up. You must be from the everybody gets a trophy crowd.

Maybe the draft talent brings his price down. Secure a contract fast before teams move on to the draft.

Come on,
Poyer stunk, no?
Long, who he signed a couple season ago, was so bad, he was cut in season and had a 7 mil dead cap hit.
Fuller was a JAG, who was recently cut and has a 5 mil dead cap hit.
Thats 3 guys that were starters and where no were close to very good, like you describe.

Lol restructuring aging veterans just to use that money to sign more aging veterans

If the powers that be do this, we can at least say they're comically entertaining.
Or even "commercially" entertaining. - LOL
Just not as good as those old Budweiser commercials with their horses.

I've heard we can get to under 60 million under the cap if we really want to...so money has nothing to do with getting a player like this.

We should probably be drafting 2 DT's in this draft class, a starter and a rotational piece. I'd save the FA dollars for positions in which we are unlikely to find a starter in this draft class.

Considering we need 2 safeties and 2 guards, we should find one of each in FA. That will account for much of the free cap space we currently have.

No thanks. If commanders cut him, don’t want him. Except at league minimum given his age.

82 million and can trade Tyreek taking on his full dead cap this year while opening up a large sum of money and being in a good position next year despite all the restructuring

What? They cut him because they have a younger DT Payne they pay 22 million and Jer’zhan who was considered a middle 1st pick fell to them at 36 last year. They tried moving him after the draft last year but no buyers. DT is important but hardly one you want 2 20 million plus guys while you have a young guy you spent a high pick on.
