Dolphins undrafted rookie linebacker Zach Vigil makes statement

That's the thing about the LB's next year, they're not overly instinctive. Smith relies too much on his athleticism and Ragland is not that athletic.

Myles Jack perhaps is the most instinctive LB in next year's draft, but as you mentioned before he's suited more as an OLB.

Ive heard some scooby wright buzz but i havent watched him...right now i think this team may be de top pick next year anyways...we need a 1st round tools true 43 de to add to the stable imo although where i hope we will be picking i dont know that we will get alpha potential

Year revolves around the oline way i see it...d if the lb depth plays may be a problem same for some of that deep corner depth...they both look ripe to exploit imo

We got some depth while more options this year we dont want to field vs 1s

If something happens to suh your lb core starter or not is gonna really get torched...we just dont have much...if suh goes those guys being late goes from short gains to gallops into your 2nd level

Then games become shoot outs for miami

I can respect that. Techniques such osteopathic manipulative treatment (OMT) work with anyone, including elite and superior strong athletes. Just saying.

you can definitely work on peoples hips and develop much ability in time for them!!!

one of my top lacrosse players years ago, i was watching and trying to figure out why he wasnt getting the most out of his shot. after observing i realized he had extremely stiff hips, though he was quick and agile on the field. i spoke to his dad, who also was a very good friend of mine, and he mentioned his sons golf coach also mentioning something about his hips for his swing. so i started working with him on stretches, strengthening, drills etc... for his hips, and within months you could definitely see improvements in his shot... accuracy and velocity, more fluent. also more agile too with double moves!!!

you can always work on things and improve!!!

As some may remember, I have some personal ties to Zach. First and foremost, I will be the first to admit that he has some hip tightness and that can lead to him struggling to change directions quick enough. However, if somebody tells you that that can never be improved upon, even slightly, please stop listening to then immediately. I remember being horrified early on in Zach Thomas' career when he'd find himself in a mismatch coverage wise. Huge strides can be made with instinct, adapting to the speed of NFL play (mentally) and getting comfortable in your defensive assignments which usually leads to better anticipation.

Zach Vigil is going to make this team, and when he plays, you will see a young kid that from time to time gets taken advantage of in coverage. I expect him to improve with experience. You'll also see a kid that comes right back and makes a negative play in the offenses backfield right after he gave up a pass reception. The kids motor is eerily similar to our other Zach's and I've just seen it too many times to think otherwise. He is absolutely hell bent on the fact that he is making this team and he refuses to think otherwise. As I've already shared in another Zach thread, he's so forward thinking, he's already backed out of a family Elk Hunting trip in late January because the Dolphins will be busy prepping for the Super Bowl.

Yes, I am a Zach homer but I'm not too worried about arguing his merits. I think you all will see what I'm talking about as this progresses.

At this point I'm beginning to think Misi is good depth. Less play time might translate to less injury time.

Miamis best bet at lb remains mccain misi jenkins but unless tripp shows something its best bet at getting away with an injury to the lb core is sheppard for misi at mike...and thats 2 down

After that its gonna get real ugly...

and the thing that sucks, is that at some point we know we are gonna see it and it will be ugly. I just envision a play a couple years ago where Kaepernick had a long ass td against us and made Trusnik look like a fool.

hoops, how would you compare Vigil to Sheperd, Misi, Trusnik, in terms of hips & athleticism?

A little off topic but what do you think of Jaylon Smith and Reggie Ragland in next year's draft? We really need a force at MLB in order for the defense to be elite imo.

Jaylon is a beast. Or I think he can be. I've seen him play since high school. he's a great athlete and he's gotten a lot bigger since getting to ND. and was always an olb before, so maybe with some more time he can become more instinctual at his new position. A little bit more bulk wouldn't hurt him I don't think.

No ****

We need a couple of these guys to step it up. Misi can never stay healthy, looks like Tripp may be Misi Jr and I don't trust McCain either. Sheppard and Paysinger are really not quality starers. We knew Linebacker would be one of the biggest weaknesses going into the season and that hasn't changed.

I agree the LBs were mostly crap. It's a weakness for sure. Very disappointed with the tackling in general but especially from the LBs.

Travis vigils hips arent fixable bottom line...they will always be an issue

The lb core was the biggest weakness i saw in the preseason opener...this team loses jenkins and we are screwed when it comes to covering tight ends etc...hes probably the most vital must have

Theres nothing close to zach thomas level instincts out there at lb either...its an insult to zach thomas frankly

So now we're a doctor and/or sports medicine specialist? :idk:

Name me one guy who came out with stiff hips and went to fluid as a pro? You cant

cbs lbs wrs des all the same...stiff is stiff

I don't have you any specifics but I have read about numerous NFL players who have benefited from things such as yoga, pilates, and other programs designed to increase flexibility. It's asinine to suggest an elite athlete can't improve his flexibility and strength in those areas. Sorry, I'm not going to debate or reason with ignorance here. Adios.

Ignorance huh...i have been evaluating prospects for like 10 years now and stiff hips are stiff hips...its why they make these guys do lb drills at the combine and see how they change direction etc...you can yoga pilates all you want but you arent gonna change a guy thats stiff to not being

Again name some names...has cam wakes hips changed since he joined the team...or has he been stiff in them the entire time? You wanna tell me that guy doesnt do everything he can to try and be more flexible as an edge rusher and he still has stiff hips...always will too

Zach vigils hips will always be stiff...
