Forget Ronnie Brown!!

if hes no good we simpl cut him
And kill your cap situtation at the same time .... unbelievable what people come up with on this board...

It's been so long since we had this high a draft pick that no one knows the process that Brown is going thru...the agent is inexperienced...he is holding on until either he gets his asking price (from all accounts the $22 mil) or until Edwards signs. Afterall, if he wants more players next year and so on, (the agent) he's gotta do right by Brown. Brown is in the position of probably not knowing exactly what to do, however, I'm sure he has a date in mind that he wants to be in camp by...Being a RB, it will be easier for him to come in late and actually contribute. If his contract is heavily incentive laden, he'll need to be in asap as well. My guess is that the basic parameters of the contract are agreed on and the guaranteed money is what is holding things up right now. When someone flinches (Fins or France or Brown), it'll happen...don't get to riled up about what these guys make...It's all relative to what every other pro athlete is making...

The reason Rivers did not play was becuase Brees was a surprised in the way he played an usely Rookie QB play the 2nd year not the first... but some are exceptions...but the Chargers would of played Rivers if brees did not do that good of a job... i think we need Ronnie cause no one knows how well ricky will do with a year absent from the NFL

So what if Ricky is surprisingly back to his old self do we need Brown. Dont get me wrong I want brown signed. But I dont want to Put my money on him just yet we can let him sit oout the whole season and then next year his price wont be so high and he will have no use on him for a year

I definitely see a bashing coming. I don't know if I'd call it holding out, he's in contract negotiations, and he's going to get signed. RW is not the answer, what if he decides again to go travel & smoke pot. Let him come back this year, show case him & trade him for a nice pick next year. Brown's the future. Have you watched any films of him? Now I too believe they're all making way too much money. But it's part of signing and know one's going to give the milk away for free. If Smith would've got 10 million then Brown would need to get 9 mil & so on. Sooner or later no one will be able to buy tix or a beer at a game and then the Athletes can blame them selve for lack of attendance and Freezes in Bonuses, etc. Still we got a montser pick up in Brown and we've got to get him on the field.

What if Ronnie Brown is a bust. There are alot of what IF's in life. You deal with what you got if Ronnie doesnt want to sign let him sit out a year we are stacked at running back anyway. Lets get our money to work for the team not just 1 player

And if Ricky gets hurt his first game back (he's suspended the first 4), you'll wish we signed him during TC. Cause we KNOW how well the other backs are from last season....

We aren't stacked at RB. We have Ricky and that's it. We saw what happened last season with our RB's. You can't depend on any of them to be a starting RB.

so b/c WE haven't had any, you never heard of any?
I was speaking for our younger & less informed fans and also making a joke as to our lack of draft picks recently...hence I said "some of the" not "I". Not everyone in this forum understands football as well as you do, just as you don't read as well as some others ;-)

Im gonna get bashed for this. But listen, my personal opinion is that NOBODY deserves to make millions playing football for 5-6 months. But thats just me, so we drafted a runningback at #2. Look what happened with Phillip Rivers, he is being paid all this money and isnt even playing!! Why on Earth should we pay 23 million dollars to some runningback who hasnt even SHOWED he can play well in the NFL yet, especially when we have Ricky Williams who is looking real good, Lamar Gordon, Sammy Morris, Heath Evans, Travis Minor. If Ronnie Brown wants to be ****y over 3 million dollars, then i say show him the door and save that 23 million dollars for someone else we may need.....like a deal to get a CB, C, QB. Right now runningback is not a need, we have 4 decent runners. Like i said, if Ronnie Brown wants to hold out cuz he thinks he deserves 23 million even tho he hasnt PLAYED yet, then show him the door! Yes i think Ronnie is good, but no rookie 24 year old who hasnt played yet, deserves soooooo much money. Im sick of these players holding out cuz they think they deserve so much, DOCTORS dont even make that much. If i was Miami, i would not go any farther than what they are offering...who cares if Ronnie Brown holds out...let him go to Tampa Bay and play with Cadillac again, or someone who is dumb enough to pay him so much. Anybody agree with me??? (or am i gonna be bashed:confused: )
does he deserve it? yes
why? because thats the going rate for the #2 overall draft pick.
is that to much? yes, but not nearly as bad as baseball or B-Blal players.
and dont forget, he can be injured at any time, and can be cut at any time. he should make sure he gets his now. cus the team wont give him ANYTHING they dont have to.

then why did the fins pick him? why stay at the #2 spot if your not willing to pay the man. i know the fins didnt get any great offers to trade down, but if paying him was such a big deal, than another team would be "DOING YOU A FAVOR" BY TRADING A 2ND ROUNDER FOR YOUR #2 OVERALL PICK. and i know 31 teams that would have done that in a heart beat.

but that would be just plain DUMB.

your playing for potential. its always a gamble, but its always more expensive.
