the whole debate on Sanchez/Freeman is pointless. A lot of people felt Freeman was more talented than Sanchez coming out of the draft, but he wasn't polished enough to contribute right away, and was raw. Almost every expert is shocked about how good he has been this quickly.
For Sanchez, I feel he'd be better in the WCO.
The whole Henne/Sanchez debate is interesting as their stats are very very similar, and in some instances (like yards, ratings, and completion percentage) Henne actually has BETTER numbers than Sanchez. Henne also only threw 2 less TDs last season than Marky Mark.
That being said it is true stats do not tell the entire story. But here is a very real situation. At various points last year Rex and Schotty Jr. saw Sanchez as a liability just as Sparano and Henning saw Henne has a liability. The difference is how the 2 staffs faced the situation. Rex realized that if he wanted to have any shot in the playoffs, he couldn't worry about Sanchez making mistakes. Now there were games last year the Jets probably should have lost, and Sanchez looked absolutely terrible (the Cleveland Browns game), but the Jets D would hold pat, and Sanchez would make that one throw his team needed.
I don't need to explain how our staff treated Henne.
Oh and don't tell me Henne is conservative by nature. I watched him play at Michigan for 4 years, I saw him play in high school. I've seen Henne's entire career, he is NOT a conservative guy.
But both guys can't complain about options. The Jets went and got Sanchez Braylon, Holmes, Plax, Keller, and LT. All guys who proved to be valuable in the passing game. We have given Henne Marshall, Bush, Gates, Bess, Hartline, and Clay. We have given Henne weapons he just needs to do something with them, and our coaches need to trust him.
But let's not rely totally on stats, they don't tell the whole story, but they do tell part of it.
