Regardless of all the talk, how excited are you about the upcoming season?
We will shock the world this year...even with all the shortcomings! At least that's my feeling today.
A Cinderella team, yes indeed. How can any true fan not get fired up; especially as the season nears? You have to love it.
I don’t get to high or low, so I’m in the middle.
Very fired up and mostly due to RT17 returning and what should be a highly improved O-line. Our guards may be the best we've seen in MANY years. Tannehill with pass protection? Who woulda thought? He gets that and he will do some damage.
In addition, I think we got a gem in Minkah. I've been searching for the transcript but all I found is a quote on twitter from Omar where Gase is praising Minkah. Came out today or yesterday. Talks about how, as an offensive guy, Gase is getting miffed at Minkah.
TE's are tough to gauge but I am very excited to see how Gesicki fits into the NFL. Traditionally, it takes time. Usually don't see much until year 2 if you're going to see anything.
The big unknowns for me are at LB with Baker and McMillan. I think McMillan will be decent but not many around the league gave him much of a shot to be a top LB. Same could be said about Baker.
Also happy we got a new DB coach as those guys looked lost at times last year.
I'm meh. There are some positives but I've gotten to the point where I don't drink the kool-aid before they are on the field.
I'm always excited till the team lets me down. Why feel down when the season hasn't even started yet? I like to be in a positive mood about everything as much as I can. Can't wait to see how we do this year. Can't wait to see if we made the right moves or not.
Excited man, think the FO and coach has done a good job of putting a decent team together this year.
In between somewhat upbeat and very fired up. Like a 7.5/10.
I'm as fired up as I can get without losing site of reality. There is a ton to be optimistic about, but the last 20 years has taught me to temper my expectations so I don't lose my **** in 5 months.
I do think this is a different season though.
I’m now thinking that we have a real chsnce of winning our division if 17 stays healthy.
I'm hopeful that certain players can play well and prove they're worth building around. I'm hopeful that Gase will show he's a good coach. I'm hopeful the team will be competitive.
But I'm not very hopeful about ending our playoff game loss streak any time soon.
Once the draft is over, I hate the off season, it's way too long IMO. So excited for the games to come around again, however I've kind of resigned myself to year another season as a middle of the pack .500 team. I've seen nothing in the moves in the off season to suggest otherwise, hopefully I'll be surprised.
Im holding myself down to somewhat upbeat. I dont want to get myself too fired up until kickoff of week 1.
Neither I am on the side of extreme opinions. IMO Gase is either another imposter or the guy. If RT stays healthy we go 10 6. If he gets hurt again and Gase fails we are in the 5 10 range. Like our rookies dont like the team purge of our best players etc.
I chose "other" since there isn't an "eh" option.
I always find a way to optimistic about a new season...if you can’t you probably shouldn’t put yourself through the aggravation of being a fan.
I do see something different this year...I see a lot more young talent than the pundits recognize...I see holes filled that weren’t filled in the past.
The 2018 Dolphins are a camouflaged bulldozer of a team.
I'm ready to see the shocked looks of despair on the opposing teams coaches faces after we beat them.
I want to watch their coaches' post game press conferences, just to hear how we weren't that good and they just didn't play well. This will be especially satisfying after we beat them a second time!
Not to be picky, but the answer depends on frame of reference.
If I will only get excited if I think Miami has a decent shot at the SB, No, I'm not excited.
If I think the team can look like a playoff contender by game 8, and I do, I'm optimistic.
If I want the team to be better than '17, I'm thrilled.
Excited but nervous about possible camp injuries
Not gonna lie, I am pretty fired up for this upcoming season esp with Tannehill back .
I'm just troll for laughs in June.
I feel like I'm getting better, though. No more cheap "spice must flow" jokes when a poster misspells Kalen's name as Ballange.
I am actively trying to temper my expectations. That little voice in my head that keeps saying stuff like, "What if Adam Gase knows exactly what he's doing? What if he's right and EVERYONE ELSE IS WRONG?"
...it keeps getting louder.
I had to put other because I need something just below very excited.
And I would be if this were coming off of 2016 and Ryan wasn't injured.
But I place myself a notch above somewhat optimistic to very optimistic. I need to see what we're all about. Will it be the same check down to the slot offense and the same zero personality/energy defense?
Very optimistic and I hope we come out guns blazing.
I’m exited but this is the time of year I shut down my football brain and enjoy the summer. It makes the time go much faster.
I voted other, as my excitement level is "meh".
I think that they finally have some young talent on both sides of the ball (mixed in with a few good veterans), but I'm still underwhelmed with the coaching and playcalling. From the moment our Head Coach said that he prefers a short pass based offense (where the short pass mostly replaces the run; same as Philbin), I have been 100% anti-Gase. However, to be fair, Gase does try to add the running game and the deep ball to his offense. The only problem is that he's already wasted two years by not getting decent o-linemen who can both run-block and give Tannehill time to go deep. This is his third season and he's just now starting to really attempt to fix the line. They now appear better on paper, but we'll see. I'll try to change my view of Gase to a "let's see how his offense does this year" stance, but if he continues to keep calling short (or behind the line of scrimmage) passes on 3rd and long like he did with Landry then I'll be right back to looking forward to the next Head Coach!
Defense is where I have a bigger problem with the coaching aspect. From Coyle to Joseph to Burke, the defense has consistently under-performed. There's been poor tackling, players often caught out of position to make plays, poor coverage of the middle of the field, and WAY too many big runs given up at crucial moments. While Miami's dink-and-dunk offense has more than its fair share of 3-and-outs, Miami's defense seems to go out of their way to allow opponents to march right down the field on short passes. It hasn't mattered who was on the field, which leads me to believe that the defensive schemes and playcalling have been more ineffective than the actual players. This would explain why Free Agents who performed okay with their former teams seem to play worse in Miami.
I am for the most part, a very optimistic person, I always see the glass half full, but this year, I am ready to explode.
And it's going to be a great summer too! The NFL will get here soon enough
Somewhat upbeat... waiting for the all clear on injuries, crazy weather, bye week cancellations, London home games, etc...
Been there done that for the past 48 years
not going to fall into that "excited" trap
Excited enough that my wife bought me a new hat. I know that the black tone hats aren't for everyone, but I like it because it's easier for me to (colorblind) to match with clothes. I wear a lot of blacks and blues.
I am somewhat upbeat, but once it gets closer to the season I will be hype!
I'm usually really fired up in the offseason and every so often in the midst of the season. Unfortunately, reality sets in and I get disgusted and then get rejuvenated again in the offseason... It's a vicious cycle
I am optimistic that if Tannehill makes the jump we thought he would make in 2017 that we will be in the playoff hunt. Of course thats me hoping that the loss of Suh, and Landry won't affect the overall team record which is probably foolish thinking on my part especially the loss of Suh.
I’m somewhat optimistic. If RT plays like he did prior to injury AND the D isn’t Swiss cheese we can be a playoff team. Still think the loss of Suh is going to hurt. Landry will hurt some but we have a lot of guys to throw to. Need to get in the red area more this year and come away w TDs.
We're going to the Super Bowl! Lol
Just because we are lifelong fans and will always love the Dolphins in sickness and health and richer or poorer til death do us part.....doesn't mean we have to be rah rah delusional fools.
We have no QB and no defensive interior.
Horrible, devastating mistakes have been made by the management and ownership of this team for over a decade now. If you were a real fan you would be demanding Ross sell the team instead of buying into the hoopla every off season.
The big festering cancerous tumor that is Stephen Ross and his sick and idiotic idea of a FO team remains, even though quality players have been added. This is the new NFL with even more pussified rules next year. If you don't have a top ten QB, you have no chance.
...at least that's what the Fight Song says. LOL!!!
