How should Miami realistically approach free agency?

According to Kyle Crabbs our caps situation is fine and depending on who we restructure or release could have anywhere from 20-40 mil. That also doesnt include the potential cap raising. With that said it's easy to say what positions we need to add in FA, but how many good free agents are actually going to hit the market and would they be scheme fits? Once we found out those questions the roadmap of what we should do will be come clearer. Ideally tho we need to come out of FA with at least 1 quality player who can start at each of these positions DT,OG, swing OT, TE, and S. Hopefully we can get some scheme fit guys on offense line so we can actually run the ball

JMHO, asking for 4 quality starters in FA is asking too much, unless by "quality" you mean at least average

First to do that, we have to release a few guys, and two of those will be post June 1st, so that doesn't help much in FA, except to pick up scraps at the end. Secondly, we have to take those older, expensive player and become even more committed to them in the future. Now, let's just imagine we do all of this. We need a ton of starters. Just to get 4 guys, that's 10 mil at maximum to give to them. We also aren't the only ones that would get an increase in cap space. Other teams we are competing with for free agents will get that too.

I think Grier will clear up more cap than most people think this offseason by restructuring some deals.

Am I saying that’s a good thing? Not really.

We’re already in a financial jam because of all the restructures Grier has done in the past.

It’s pretty clear we’re gonna have to bite the bullet eventually and stay put in free agency instead of kicking the financial crisis can down the road.

All that being said, Grier and McDaniel’s jobs are on the line.

They’re likely heading into this offseason with an aggressive plan to retool the roster enough for us to win games next year.

They’re not gonna head into this offseason thinking about how certain moves could financially jam us up even more in the future.

Their jobs are on the line and need to win now. The future in Miami is irrelevant for them if they can’t put together a winning team next season.
Well……..you forgot one thing. McD is still coaching and calling plays next season. So how exactly are we gonna have a winning season

Sign crazy, raw meat eating interior linemen. Get rid of our small, statonary QB. Get some men. This team blows

Pick up players who have a healthy playing history.
Pick up players who have played in big games both in college and the NFL.
Pick up players who have been leaders in both college and the NFL.

You fill every hole you can before the draft. You’d like to draft BPA. Id like two starting guards and at least one DB.

Look for guys coming off rookie contracts, ages 24-26. Stay semi quiet in the first week, let the big money be spent.

They need to get a LG, Trey Smith would be nice but he will get Hunt like money. Tevin Jenkins could be a nice sign for that spot.

They also need a capable QB2. Guys like Mariota, Winston, Wentz, Garapolo, maybe even Fields. I wouldn't be upset if they signed Trey Lance as QB 3 and not draft a developmental guy this year.
