How to raise Dolphin Kids?

I remember 13 years ago when I was only a day old my dad sat me down right next to him and we watched Miami.

Wife and I just had our first child - a daughter - about four months ago. God willing, another will follow sometime in the next two years. Bleeding aqua and orange myself, I want to raise my daughter and any potential future children as good Dolphin citizens.

So far, I've tried to describe the AFC East foes like this, in terms she may understand: Patriots are wet diapers with a little poop (I told her this while watching the AFC title game). Bills are poopy diapers that fill the whole diaper, with slight spillage on the leg. Jets are those messy poopy diapers that spill outside the diaper, onto the onesie and all over the changing table, requireing immediate washing of everything involved, and the lysol spray-down of the entire room! In case you're curious, the rest of the NFL teams are just wet diapers.

Anyways, how have the rest of you raised your children to be the best Dolphin fans they can be? Thanks!

Warning when watching the phins and you have your daughter on your lap , she might go flying. Trust me I know I have 3 kids and they've all been taken for a ride on the phins airline! :roflmao: Overload your daughter with phins paraphenalia (sp?) she'll thank you when she's older!

Hmmm...OK, our first is due August 10th! A boy! Where can I find some Dolphin baby gear online? :D

Same here. Was watching the Miami San Diego game in '82 with my mother, been a diehard phin phan ever since.

Mental Note: Buy a big overstuffed Miami Dolphins pillow to keep on the floor at my feet for the baby to land on. :D

I don't know what happened in my house, but my 5 year old is a Packer fan! He has Dolphin stuff hanging on his walls, a Dolphins jersey, and we watch games together, but the little guy went to school today in a Packer jersey his mom bought for him.

I just told him he could like any team he wants. At least he likes football.

I'll tell you what though, he can hit a baseball pitched to him really well for 5!

my son was born on the 23rd. NEXT year your boy will go through football season in the 11-14 month old range. Absolutly perfect, you will have a blast !

Congrats man! I'm having a girl as well in August, already going to buy her a pink dolphin outfit to put on her! Do you mind if I borrow your anologies as I teach my baby the ways of the AFC east?

Thanks everyone!

I've also burned the Dolphins fight song to CD and we listen to it often in the car when I drive her home from the sitter. I also have sung it to her since day one. It also helps that I've just about knocked the Cowboy-fan out of my wife after six years. I think she finally gave up the other day when she admitted that all her favorites (Aikman, Irvan, Emmit) were all gone and she didn't know who the current players are!

Believe me - the little one will be decked out in Dolphin gear many times this fall!!

Great avatar & thread Tom...I just found out that I'm gonna be a Dad! Its funny that this was one of the first things I thought about...My wife just rolled her eyes. She is gonna be in big trouble once baby can yell at the tv on Sundays like daddy!:D

I'm calling Social Services. That's child abuse. Forcing a child to be a finfan is worse than forcing your kid to sleep in the same room w/ Whacko Jacko.

Might as well tape a cell phone around her head. Your fight song can cause just as much brain damage :D.

BTW, congrats!

the wife raised him well. Say hi to her for me

basically i just force feeded the phins down their throats!!! LoL, but naw, most kids wanna take after thei parents anyway, especially when they're real small, so just seeing how excited you get over the phins will make them LOVE the phins themselves

Nope, the wife is a Phins fan for sure! His favorite color is yellow, and I think at his age that plays a lot into it. However things like this start small and grow from there.

The thing is, my favorite NFC team is the Packers, but they come in a distant second to the Phins.
