Is it April Fools already? Miami and T.Owens a Match??

it's probably a pipe dream since the eagles and ravens are so far under the cap and we are probably not his top option out of his four teams but i cant get the images of
ramsey
rickey
chambers
TO
mcmichael
out of my head... maybe steal andrews in the draft if his stock plummets, maybe get andrews and carey if we get 2 first rounders. or one of them and say michael clayton. damn could be a huge offseason... but like i said probably just a dream

I don't think TO is worth the money, although an excellent WR. That's spending a big chunk on someone. Opposing teams respect CC but not our #2 guy. TO would be a high priced #2 guy, or if you moved CC to #2...he would be. We need a good solid #2WR, not someone who would prevent us from making other necessary moves for the Oline and signing picks. Just like if we would have shelled out the 5-6 mill for Gandy....we wouldn't have been able to get Zgonia, Seau, Knight etc. TO is the same problem but on Offense. Get Michael Clayton (draft) or Darrel Jackson (FA) for the #2 spot.....trade next year's #2 for Henson, and if Ogun goes (although i hate to see it happen even though it might be required) we'd still be left with picks to get Clayton or Clayton and a QB (Rivers) in the draft if we had two first round picks and didn't trade for Henson.

I'd like to see:

Trade next year's #2 (conditional #1) for Henson
Use our #1 for a WR
Keep Ogun

If we don't get Henson

Get Ramsey somehow and if not Ogun's gotta go to get our QB and WR through the draft

Amen!!

T Owens is smart. He got his agent to put Miami's hat into the ring. You know why? cus everyone loves to use Miami. Brunell this year. T owens is next. Who will be after him? I say just forget about it.

Get Rivers in the draft. Draft Olinemen. and let whatever WR's fall our way in draft or FA after the smoke clears is where the best deals come.

I'm not sorried about the Eagles money. They never spend it. There is a reason they are always under the cap.

I think we could get TO if we want to go that way. Actually, the idea of Henson throwing to TO is kind of appealing.

Actually his short list is said to be Miami, Philly, Atlanta, and Baltimore.

Jacksonville, Tampa Bay, Buffalo, and the Jets have also been mentioned as possible destinations, but not so much by Owens so much as by media speculating on which teams are going to actually be INTERESTED in Owens.

4 teams is not a very long "short list"

The main point of the article is that Miami is on TO's 4 team short list, while Miami itself is actually entertaining the idea.

So unlike yourself, amateur cap specialist that you are, the Miami front office (professional cap specialists that THEY are) actually sees Owens as a possibility if not a very likely one.

BTW you're going to have to help me through this.

Jay Fiedler signed a 5 year contract prior to the 2002 season. The signing bonus was approximately $5 million.

2002....525k
2003....750k
2004....3,700k
2005....5,775k
2006....6,500k

Those are his scheduled base salaries. But he is scheduled a roster bonus when free agency begins of $2 million. So you add that to his 2004 base salary. If the Dolphins cut him prior to that roster bonus wouldn't they save roughly $3 million?

He rec'd a $4 million signing bonus at $800,000/season. He also had a $1.25 million roster bonus in 2003 that was most likely guaranteed and spread out at $312,500/season. He has 3 yrs left at $1,112,500/season x 3 seasons = $3,337,500 remaining amortization. His cap number is $4,812,500. That number minus $3,337,500 equals $1,475,000. Subtract $305,000 because of top 51 rule (52nd highest cap number becomes 51st), and you get a savings of $1.17 million.

Now, I do not have the $2 million option for 2006 (not roster bonus) counting until exercised. Why? Well, in the trials and tribulations of "cyber-capology" I have found out that Bledsoe's $7 million option for future years does not presently count vs cap until exercised. Quite honestly, whether the $2 million counts or not is immaterial. If it counts then the amount Miami is "over the cap" increases by that $2 million as does his cap hit, but you end up at exactly the same place overall when released.

Professional capologists'? Where? Being over $15-20 million 3-4 yrs in a row? That's funny

Anyone else think that a DOMINANT wr opposite CC would make evryone respect our passing game no matter if Jay, BG, Rookie etc is throwing to him. By the way if we get ramsey he would help the cap quite a bit and assist with getting a TO in FA.

I agree, but TO is a pipe dream. D Jackson is more likely.

I would be in heaven if we were to acquire Ramsey, Owens, and pick improve the OL. With a team like that, the SB wouldn't be too far out of reach.

HAAHA Miami isn't going to ever get Owens. There not even going to get Jacksonl. They might get Kordell and a washed up reciever no one ever heard of if were lucky. As far as the qb situation goes...A.J. Feely who play 8 games in his career is all were gunna get .

I hate to say it but our OL is our biggest concern for people that think it is the qb. Chambers is awesome. DT 3rd or 4th wr. Mcnight Gone. OG Gone. We need a FA WR and more OL....Griese is a better qb than fiedler and phillips combined. look what he did with that garbage line we got.

So umm.. because OL is our "biggest" concern, even though WR and QB are also needs.. you would pass up the chance to get a star at one of the other two positions, BECAUSE OL is the "biggest" need? An offseason strategy like that wouldn't even cut it in Madden.. :rolleyes2

Who the hell is Phillips? LOL, you don't even know the guy's name and you're rating him. Griese better than a 1st round projected rookie? Thanks for letting me know, because I had no idea that Rivers played in NFL games before. Thank you.

I honestly don't think you have the brains to understand that we dont have the cash flow to pull off getting Owens and all your FA fantasies. I think you need to just stay off this forum. We need an OL thats obvious. We need another WR.. We dont have money for both....we had a star qb it didnt work...cuz we had no OL...DUHHHHHHH

and another thing ...i dont understand why u keep saying bring rivers...that means no SB for miami again...name 1 qb that was a rookie that took a team to the sb and won..u cant count brady because it was his second year.
