Marino Reigns Supreme in new ESPN study

Dan Marino had one thing in common with Bret Farve and that was their ability to turn over the ball. Dan at times push the ball in desperation to create a play. A lot of times that resulted in turn overs for dan. Duper and clayton were able to catch those passes early on. If Dan could have gotten a ring it would have been against san franscisco because that problem continued on all the way to his disastrous last game. Marino to some extent is overly celebrated by us but we dont come into terms with all the post season exits that ended the same. It wasnt that he didnt have a running game and etc if you were watching the games you would know this.
Bullshit, Marino was good until the Achillies injury. He was never able to push off that leg again like before, after the injury.

Incredible watching those highlights, travesty that he never got a ring. To do what he did in an era when dbs were allowed to actually be physical with receivers up and down the field, truly was a thing of beauty watching him place the ball right on the money while buying time in the pocket. Thanks for sharing that video.
It's a crime the supporting cast Marino had (didn't have). He was the best QB of that class and as a bills fan I feared him getting the ball with one drive left to win it.

If he had better players around him man he would have been way better then anyone no contest.

Payton had Harrison etc... Marino was doing with nothing in comparison

And most of what he didn’t have was defense. It’s a good thing for the NFL he’s not on the 2021 Dolphins…it would be disgusting.

"Before Peyton Manning and Tom Brady came along and rewrote the NFL record books, it was Marino blowing everyone away."

Peyton and Tom play in a league where you can not sneeze (ok poor analogy but can't think of another one) on a QB or WR without having a flag thrown. Dan played during a time when QBs and WRs were not afforded such a luxury. Big difference!
Manning may have played 1 year before all of the rule changes. And we literally broke his jaw in his first year! I think it was Lorenzo Bromwell who knocked him out.

Why would he feel pressured to create a play? Could it have been because he knew the defense was straight up trash and if he couldn't make it happen it was over anyway?

Sometimes it worked, sometimes it failed, but better to go down swinging. That's why with him we ALWAYS had a chance (which is all you can really ask for) no matter who it was we were playing.

It's all good though this game is like tennis where its all on one dude 🎃
