Patriots defensive end Mark Anderson is en route for a free-agent visit with the Miami Dolphins, reports Aaron Wilson of the Carroll County Times and Scout.com.
Anderson, who was one of the Patriots' best free-agent signings last year, played on a one-year, $1.375 million contract in 2011 and revived his stock with a 10-sack regular-season (and 2.5 sacks in the playoffs).
Now he's in position for a raise.
Anderson is one of the more compelling Patriots free agents because he wasn't a full-time player (47 percent of the snaps) over the course of the year. But when thrust into more full-time duty, he played well.
The Patriots had discussions with Anderson's reps prior to free agency, but similar to running back BenJarvus Green-Ellis, they couldn't find a middle ground.
Now the Dolphins are jumping into the mix.
Solid if we pull it off.
