Martin to meet with Dolphins soon to discuss future with team

Thread should be re titled "Martin camp to discuss contract settlement".

Won't be surprised if the Dolphins just buy out Martins contract and release him to be a FA as "best for both party" PR crap.

I hope we do it him what the lions didn't Sanders. Don't let him play and don't trade or release him.

Do everything possible to make Jon happy. Everything. That is all that is important in this world.

It does not matter that Martin has a drug issue, cannot advocate for himself or simply cannot block.

Love the sarcasm.

If Capt Comeback "supports" the snake as the article below suggests then work out a trade with the Niners. Keep in mind, 1) in the NCAA, Coaches can only work w/ players for a limited amount of time & 2) Stanford is more of an ivory tower existence that the snake was raised in.

My trade idea (just shooting from the hip).... Wheeler & JM for Kendall Hunter and a conditional pick. Hunter would give the phins a power back and clear way in SF for LaMichael James and M. Lattimore

Not everything in this world but certainly for our current situation.

It doesnt matter that Martin uses drugs as widely as a high percentage of players in the NFL.

It has not been proven that he has a drug "problem" other than possible problem of the legal ramifications. The report stipulates that Incognito is abusing alcohol after terrible performances. Alcohol, is not illegal. Nor has it been proven that he is an alcoholic. Ive gotten trashed after or due to a bad day at the office. You havent?

You are certainly on point when you express the advocate and blocking points. I am shocked that Martin is nit being held accountable for dictating is own future. As Ive written before, the guy has all of my sympathy and empathy for his psychological affliction and such an affliction is not an excuse. It is a disease that can kill. But that does. But that does not subtract that said illness, Martin's lack of inability to cope with the matter is much more prevalent than any of the bullying he absorbed. And this is being overlooked simply because he does come across as a victim. He is certainly been victimized but the manner in which he dealt with the problem because he mentally couldnt deal with the problem is the main source of this entire fiasco.

Also, the guy was terrible. He showed improvement only because he had no where to go but up. This, and this alone, should suffice to justify getting rid of Martin.

How can anything be proven about Martin when no one is looking at Martin? Its all about Incog and the Miami Dolphins. Thats all anything has been about from day one.

Martin was never questioned in any of this in the media complex on any serious level.

The guy supposedly wanted to kill himself twice this past year. They all make a big deal about that, not to find help for him, but to use it as a tool to take down the supposed bad guy(s). They could care less about his mental issue personally. I have yet to hear anyone mention how he needs to get help. Because this is not about anything wrong with Martin, its about whats wrong with Incog and the Miami Dolphins.

So one has to wonder, say he goes to SF, that somehow this festers in his brain or not fester in his brain.

Quite frankly, I think the mental issues are overblown. I think this was about lawsuit because not even his own mother was concerned for getting him help back in May.

I would jettison Incognito and Turner and give Martin a shot to play.

Yes, that is exactly what we need back, a weak minded O-linemen probable mainic depressant that will fold the moment nasty names are used. DE that love to talk trash will have a field day with him.

For the sake of the Miami Dolphins, the Miami Dolphins goal to create a much better O-line, and most important, for the sake of Jon Martin's health, he needs to forget Football, and worry about his health, because it's what guys do, and if you can't handle it, you will be crushed....if Jon wants back into the NFL, and cares little about his health, let him go to another team.

San Fran is perfect for Martin. He can ride the pine for a few years and then become a suit advocating non-harassment league wide with his mommy.

Cogs? Ship him to the Raiders and then draft some young, hungry, nasty, smart mo-fos for the line next year.

Can Dallas Thomas be salvaged?

Miami has zero leverage in this. Martin has the team by the short and curlys now. Ross knows that Martin can sue the team for significantly more than his contract value. At this point any discussions between the two sides consists of Miami begging Martin not to sue. If Martin wants to come back and start at left tackle wearing a pink tutu the team will agree to it. If Martin wants to demand his release and full payment of his contract he will get it. He will get anything he wants.

Wait, hasn't he already told people he doesn't want to go back to Miami under any circumstances?

Which is it?

Objectively, does anyone think he's starting material? I remain unconvinced.

I hadn't realized he had a future in Miami! Maybe as a trade asset if you can call him that. But best thing would be to cut him. I cant see any future in Miami! Let alone any other team. But I guess someone may have a need for a guy with his type of problems! Not!

Uh, save the trip, Jon. You have no future with this team.

No. I don't think any Dolphins fan who watched him play believes that he is starting material. I think if he returns to football it will definitely be as a backup. He is just not a good football player and I think that's the #1 reason why his career is in serious jeopardy.

I know people on this board were saying how Wells was in the tank for Martin and other such things, but if you actually read that report, it's pretty damning against Jon Martin as well. If you were an NFL General Manager and you read that report, you'd see a lot of red flags in there about Jon Martin. I do think Richie's career can continue if he presents a good public face and 'rehabilitates' himself the way Mike Vick did.

I'm genuinely curious to see what happens to these two guys. I might be wrong and Martin might go ride the pine for someone for a few years while Richie gets blackballed. I'll just be glad when they are somebody else's problems.

I'd love to hear the trash talk Jmart gets next season from opposing DEs. It's going to be bad.

Can the NFL stop this?

That's the next move. Players can't be exposed to harrassment from the opposing team just like businesses have a responsibility to protect their employees from harassment by clients, subcontractors or competitors.

Lawyers take the fun out of everything.

LOL! Good point. Can't wait for the flags to start flying for harsh and hurtful language.
