Bottom Line : You find the best man for the job. It doesn't matter what color his skin is. Mueller is a highly qualified GM, and that's why he was hired, it had nothing to do with the color of his skin, or his genetic background.....

These people need to get a life, and stop living in past. Those slavery days are long gone. As Americans, black or white, we are given equal opportunity to educate ourselves enough to be qualified for the job itself. No person is denied an education in this country. If these minorities can't get the job they want it's probably because they haven't earned it...Boo ******* Hoo.

I was being sarcastic. My BET to CMT is an example. People would take offense if CMT was changed to White Music television but it's okay to keep BET the way it is.

Actually even white people would take offense if a country music represented the white race. :lol:

first of all I am not terribly young, not old either. I do understand affirm. act. and I know what it is about. Yes I madE a general sweeping comment that may have been a little bit exagerative, however I know in the state of florida minorities are bale to get a higher level of public assistance than whites. Also corporations are expected to hire people based on quotas and I know for a fact corporations are suffering for it. Very good people don't get jobs because they aren't a minority race or a woman. It is reverse discrimination that is acknowlaged and ok'd by the government. If I were to tell someone that I'm not hiring them because the are black I'm in trouble for descrimination If I tell the same person that I'm hiring him because he's black then it's no problem even though that is basically telling all the other non-black applicants that I didn't hire them due to them not being black. HOW THE HELL IS THAT NOT DESCRIMINATION AND WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!

It's is amazing how this thread went from football and touch every other aspect of racism....the problem is still, always have been and will always be here.

Blacks makes up approx. 50% of players, dominates just about every position except QB and yet maybe only 6% of front office jobs belongs to blacks.

Cmon....I live here in Jacksonville, a team with three black QB's. I never thought about the racism factor in sports until I heard some of the comments made on talk-radio shows about these three QBs. It exist big time....not saying Wayne has any part in it.
 
as white people we should just split into our own groups, stop calling ourselves white. From now on your what your decent is. English American, or German American, maybe Israily American, how about Armenian American or Romanian American. Ooh now who qualifies as a French American. Pakistani American anyone. Hopefully you get my point. All people that are not asian or african american are grouped as white. There is 40 boxes for diffrent asian cultures, 1 for african american, and then caucasion/other(nice touch).

I have no european decent in me, yet I am grouped with them. So I cant consider myself a minority. What if in a few years blacks are called whites, are they all of a sudden not a minority.

Honsestly if you gave me two resumes and said one was a black canidate, I wouldnt care, I would hire whos best, like most people would nowadays. Sorry for this diversity group they would like to see a 100% african american league.

Did whites yell reverse racism when romeo crenell was given cleveland job, I dont remember any white people interviewing for that job that had a chance at getting it. Whole race issue always pisses me off when it comes up(See age limit in NBA) because it is brought up at times when race aint even an issue unless you skew the issue.

of course there is still racism but its not as bad as you assume somtimes. And im sure byron leftwitch, hasnt had a 10th of bad things said about him as feidler or feeley have in the past year or for fiedler 4 years. It comes with the position. I guess jacksonville is somewhat south and those guys were very racist in the 60's, im from CA so i guess I havent experienced it too much, besides college admissions(the guy who brought up sat scores and gpa made this point already though).

That's also a sweeping statement, every black person is NOT underqualified for a job..and Companies historical enjoy more success from diversity..there's data to support that. The problem with trying to help minorities get into the market place is racism. There's an excuse for every effort to make up for some of the discrimination that's gone on historically. I'll ask this, over the last 200 years, how many minorities were turned down for jobs who were more qualified than the white person who got the job? NO ONE EVER addresses that in these kinds of threads. Most on this board complain about the same things minorities have complained about forever, yet don't see themselves acting like the people they're talking about. It's a tough sell both ways, I'm serious when I say until we're totally color blind, it will be this way. I'm not prejudice, but I do see and know prejudice people. I've always thought it was a waste of energy and time, and yet I still see hate groups today. So I know racism is still alive and kicking. I think when I see the klan and skinheads and Black muslums stop talking race, then I'll think something's change. But reading this thread, I don't see anything changed from 40 years ago when affirm. Act. came along to now. Which, unfortunately, in imho, fosters the need to keep such programs intact to ensure minorities do get in..and yes some will be not as qualified, but that didn't stop the majority from hiring the majority all these years when they weren't quite as qualified either. There will always be some that gets though the cracks, both ways..SO STOP USING THE SINGLE LANE IN SAYING WHO.

Care to share which call in shows you are referring to. Anyone who has ever called into talk radio, knows that they have screeners and three second time delays in place to prevent any embarrassing situations such as you described from taking place. They would simply cut the mic.

The problem with that comparision is the majority of front office people/owners weren't players. I know that there are smart football players in the NFL but think about how many of them went to college and graduated soley because they were good at football. The NFL in general is composed with athletes who aren't the brightest people... not saying that some of these guys arent really smart, but if i had to give a percentage i would say that most of them got a full athletic scholorship and if it weren't for athletics many would have a much harder time to A. get into schools. B. Graduate.
