Look at the bright side guys we got 2 extra draft picks next year for fireland to f*** up anyways, and hey T.O just got cut so maybe he makes his way down to miami although i dont see it with his "character issues" damn its tough being a fin fan these days. What we need to do as a fan base is boycott this season. I for one was a season ticket holder since 07' this year marks the first year i wont have season tickets. I thought long and hard about my decision as no matter what im a die hard fin fan but i cant support this a** clown that we have as a GM anymore.. in other news i cant wait to see hard knocks on tuesday! hopefully we get an explanation for this trade :tantrum:

**** Vontae.

I swear Im liking Philbin more and more each day. Its great to see a coach come in and clean this locker room up. All the bitching about how Philbin picks trash up off the practice field and wants the players to keep the locker room clean.... I think its great. Philbins new name............THE CUSTODIAN!!! He is getting all the trash and lazy bums out of our place.

Just watch, in time you will all learn to love Philbin. He is going to come in and completely change the culture of this place. Guys who are just here to collect a check or promote themselves are going to find themselves either out of work or on new teams.

I only hope someone will trade us something for Dansby now. If not, this is likely his last season in a phins uni unless he both raises his game and straightens out his attitude. He is clearly on thin ice right now.

Well said WV! Lots of fans got on Philbin's ass for his attention to 'a whole lotta nothings', but I disagree with this idea in general.

Philbin is trying to hold players accountable, to make them understand they represent the organization as a whole and not just themselves. For too long, Miami Dolphin players have been able to go through the motions. There was no accountability. No true sense of discipline. No character. I understand that talent wins football games, but without character/discipline/unity/accountability, what good will talent do you? Davis is the poster child for what I'm talking about. EXTREMELY TALENTED player, but lacks the things I've listed above.

If Philbin is indeed the mastermind behind the Marshall/Davis trades (and cutting Chad Johnson), I really am liking him more and more.

I'm not arguing with anyone that Vontae wasn't our best corner, but the fact is he wasn't going to see much time. I would rather them get a 2nd now than him become a problem over the next to seasons because hes not playing and us get nothing as he walks via free agency.

It's makes sense to me, it's a NBA TRADE, they didn't like him and or valued him like Sean smith and he was a free agent at the end of the year so they got a "high second round pick". Why get mad!! We're not going no where this season, next season I see us being contenders because another year for t-hill and we have a lot of cap space at the end of the year and that's a fact!!

really?!?!? Really?!?!?!

Grantland...

Weeks 1-9: ranked 30th Pass D
Weeks 10-17: 3rd Pass D

"Miami's pass defense morphed from grotesque to gorgeous across the season's halves. This could have happened by random chance, but there's a very telling coincidence that I think might have had something to do with it. Cornerback Vontae Davis isn't on Darrelle Revis's level, and he can lack for consistency, but he has borderline Pro Bowl talent. And during that first nine-week stretch, Davis missed four games entirely while being forced out of two other games with injuries.[SUP]6[/SUP] Davis made it back for Week 10 and didn't miss a single game the rest of the way. The dramatic difference obviously overstates Davis's impact, but he's an enormously valuable player to the Dolphins who makes them significantly better when he's healthy and in the lineup."

Philbin's on some deranged power-trip. You cannot justify giving away a 24 year-old with Vontae's athletic ability and history of shutting down very good Receivers--not to mention him being one of the best tacklers/ run-support corners in the AFC. This is pretty awful, and it makes me doubt Philbin a lot.

Just playing Devil's Advocate here, but...

It's hard to deny the defense in particular played like crap, largely due to serious issues with conditioning. Players actually had to PLAY THEMSELVES INTO SHAPE. That's pretty pathetic, and the results showed, especially in pass defense (no pass rush + out of shape DBs = bad passing defense). Even our defensive "leader" Dansby showed up in the shape of a fat slug.

Vontae helped the secondary in the second half of the year, but like the other guys, part of their play was better conditioning. Let's not dismiss the fact that our team "leaders" supposedly started holding players accountable for their actions (which is hypocritical if Dansby was involved in any of that 'leading'), which in their words led to better play.

One player does not change the entire pass defense of a secondary. It takes skill, communication, and proper technique to be a collective good secondary. Vontae had the first one down, not so much the other two.

while I don't always agree with what WV says, he does tend to be right a lot.

I tend to agree with him, but on this he is dead wrong! Davis was the only thing resembling a play maker on defense and now we have Smith, MArshall, and Carroll covering guys like A. Johnson which they couldn't do if they all 3 tried together!

Great deal! Vontae is such a talented corner but a lazy sob, he needs a fire lit under his behind, he'll get it tho & I'll continue to support him on whatever team. Were obviously trying to acquire a player from a team that requires a 2nd for. There is no doubt it has to be for a wideout whom I believe its speedster Mike Wallace! Oh jees the thought is just exciting.

you guys need to keep in mind this is going to most likely be a 33rd or 34th pick in the draft. easily be able to get a better corner than vontae with that.

Unless we draft another TE or right tackle to correct the mistakes from this year.

WTF?? Who the HELL will replace him?

Man, we now have the worst WRs AND secondary!
