Merged: Feeley the man

Guys, Frerotte played against the Steelers first-team D (the one that was the best in the league last year), and he had 4-5 dropped passes from his receivers.

Feeley played against the 3rd string Pitt D, AND the playcalling was drastically different - all quick dumps and outs. look at the yardage on those plays - 3 yards, 4 yards, 4 yards... they were all garbage plays that we called b/c the Pitt DBs were playing off us 5 yards. not hardly showing a "great QB" at all.

The frerotte fumble that stung was the fumble for TD, but that was a HUGE collapse by the o-line and no one seemed to block anybody. the same would have happened to feeley.

This game did nothing to sway the QB batle in either direction guys...

The same could be said for AJ against Chicago and he woulfdhave been 5 for 7 instead of 4 for 7 (derrius drop )and in position to score on our opening drive. The stats are the stats and without all the numbers in front of me they are about sub 50% completion for Gus above 60% completion for AJ, one interception to none favor Gus, 2 fumbles to none favor AJ., 3 points to none favor Gus. Now is there a clear cut winner here? One more game AJ to start and lets see who steps up.

ferotte is our starter plain and simple. we cant be switching qb's every week.

Considering Gus hasnt been officially named the starter yet, and the competition is still going on, it is plain and simple at all. If we're going to suck, Id rather suck with Feeley than suck with Gus. I want to see what Feeley can do.

Feeley came in during Pitt's 3rd stringers.

Feeley should be perfect when he's only throwing 3 yard passes. wasn't that your guys biggest knock on fiedler? he didn't have an arm to throw it downfield? Now feeley throws 3-yard outs and he's the answer?

i'm not so easily convinced.

i'm not saying Gus is the answer, but don't be fooled by AJ's numbers tonight. Just like Brock's #'s in games one and two were not to be taken too seriously, so too are AJ's numbers tonight.

What has Frerotte done in the preseason games? Nada. Zip. Zilch. His best pass of the preseason is an overthrown pass that ended up as a touchdown. His second best was a prayer throw on which Chambers made a great adjustment and bailed him out. Tonight he hit Welker once. Congrats. I will assume for the time being he did it on purpose. For whatever faults you trash Feeley for at least he doesnt suck as bad as Gus

Feeley did play with 2nd team and was perfect throwing the ball even if it was 3-7 yrd passes..
Doesnt Brady/Pennington do the exact same thing?

Im am just sooo dissapointed with Gus not separating himself as the Starter fux the guy knows the system...
Saban is a genious not nameing a starter yet...

Exactly. This love affair of a career backup is absurd. I cant believe how bad Gus has looked.

Gus reminds me of a guy married to a hot piece of @ss, only problem, he is impotent..

I have been a Feeley hugger since we traded for him. That being said, throughout the preseason, Ferotte has been more consistant. If next week were opening day I would probably start Ferotte. We all have to remember that there is more preseason football to be played and that a starting quarterback has yet to be named. Regarding whoever said "Feeley will never take us to the Superbowl, so why try?", I would venture to say that Ferotte will not take us there either, so why not have an open competition?

texasPHINSfan ur respected but you use excuses for only Frerotte and call Feeley garbage no matter if its the online ,back, or recievers fault. But when its Gus u put the blame on others not including Frerotte.

I dont know if youve watched training camp, I havent, but Gus has done NOTHING in the 3 preseason game to warrant starting. It can be argued that noone else has either but I would rather go with a guy who at least was able to beat last years superbowl champs, who came back after busting his finger and threw a TD on the next play. That AJ is better than anything I have seen this preseason. Gus hasnt been good since the redskins

I was at a few training camps, they were both impressive at times. Judging by the preseason, it all comes down to whom the players want to start and that is Gus Ferotte

AJ didnt beat the pats.....The D and brady beat the pats!...........
