CanadaPhinsFan said:I wasn't even talking about last night's game. Someone brought up the Pats game and referred to Feeley's performance in that game as mint. It wasn't mint. It was incredibly Fiedler-esque.
My point was less than 200yds on 35 attempts is not a "mint" performance and that we need a QB who will win games instead of playing not to lose them. BTW, I did say that was my point in the last post.
Canadianfishfan said:OH Brother... Lets stop this now. Neither QB looked great. Feeley maybe had better numbers.. but the drives looked feeble to me. And lets stop we should kept this person or that. We all called for Fiedlers head.... we got it..... live with it.
Our enemic offense was a total team letdown... Lets hope Saban has something up his sleeve,, cause its going to be an embarassing year
rickeyrunsover said:No my point is this, with teh Pats game, and all, people will use stats when it fits their argument and when it doesnt, they say dont use stats. Pats game AJ played well, no he didnt have great stats, but he made plays. He was also clutch with the game on teh line.
My whole argument comes down to this - Many are making excuses for Gus last nite while trying to tear down AJs, why? Saying Gus' mistakes arent all his fault while AJ success really isnt successful, why? Because of an inner bias, me included, we all have biases that slants the picture the way we want to see it. I find it funny that anyone actually thinks they are completely objective. I want AJ to succeed. I want Gus to succeed as well, but dont like him so if he isnt teh starter, I am not unhappy. Yeap I will be dissappointed if AJ doesnt start, I am prepared for that cause I think Gus will end up teh starter.
The fact of teh matter is this. The truth is somehwere in teh middle. Not everything was completely Gus fault, AJ wasnt perfect. It was also one game. Circumstances too numerous to mention play into anything. Like Gus threw behind McMike, but he got his hands on it. Bad pass by Gus? Yes, but McMike still should have caught it. The players around you can influence your play, they can make you look good, they can make you look bad. The end result is somewhere in between.
The biggest reason why I think Gus starts? Coaches and playere have confidence in him it seems. That is also a huge intangible, all 11 guys believing. Linehan is in his corner is a plus as well.
DonShula84 said:Considering Gus hasnt been officially named the starter yet, and the competition is still going on, it is plain and simple at all. If we're going to suck, Id rather suck with Feeley than suck with Gus. I want to see what Feeley can do.

man you must have had a good buzz feeley threy 15 3 yard passesVAMinnow said:Im drunk, but looking at the stats Feeley outplayed Frerotte tonight. 16 for 20 are pretty good numbers. I forget what Frerotte's numbers were but they were not good. So, I dont care what you say, Frerotte should not have the lead as of yet. The decision shouldnt be decided yet
Dudeman said:yet Nick hasnt even let Sage work with the first teamers once in training camp.
rickeyrunsover said:Wow second team wasnt good enough for your argument? You had to make it 3rd? Maybe mid 4th they had some third? Feeley was also playing with the second and THIRd o-lines. Funny many said Gus should start because of his work against Backups vs Chicago. That was teh only game Gus looked decent.
3-4 dropped balls? Yeah Felley had a couple as well. One drop by McMike was on Gus, he threw it behind McMike. he also threw 18 passes, add three he is 10 of 18, better but not great. Also two of teh drops were the 4 to 5 yd variety, not balls that led to scores. Gus was very inaccurate AGAIN.
Also regardless of what defense was in, the thing that I was impressed with in AJ was he showed poise under pressure, lost the deer in the headlights looked, found his second and third options and didnt force teh ball. He was accurate as well.
Make any excuse you want AJ looked better than Gus. Does that mean he overtakes Gus? No. But if he outplays Gus next week by this margin, I think it opens teh door to the possibility. The key is how does Gus respond next week.
