MERGED: Gus Frerotte

I really really dont want Gus to start, but he is looking pretty good. I just find it hard to root for him

I don't know if you know this but Don Shula was a Gus fan. He actually tried to trade for him once and tried to sign him another time. It never worked out b/c I think Gus wanted a chance to start and Dan was here.

Like someone else said...I am rooting for AJ for the future but I am rooting for Gus this season.

I think that if Gus is the starter this season, AJ does not have a future as a Dolphin, or a starting QB for that matter. Gus was by far more impressive, he was playing vs backups, but he was also playing with backups. Donald Lee was the most dissapointing player I seen today, I really think he maybe cut. Tillman is awful, Daniels probably start next to Madison, IMO.

So you didn't notice Gus move around? For example that early pass to Chambers? Feeley looks like a deer in the headlights, and Gus does not, that's a big difference.

Also you try to put Gus down for beating the Chicago 2nd team, which is more than Feeley has shown so far.

here you go again on the feeley bashing watch the game again we did not pick up a single blitz when aj was in and that ladies and gentlemen is the facts! When Gus was in i saw the fb's and rb's picking up alot of the rushers very nicely!

yea, i know. the o-line turns into hof'ers and the backs chip like walter payton as soon as gus gets in the game. go figure

Here is a good thing.

Without being biased or without the blinders some people have on.

Both QB'S looked solid tonight.

I am a huge Feeley supporter.

Now to the question. Now honestly think about this. I know it's dificult to play the what if game. BUt how much better was Gus tonight if Thompson makes that perfectly thrown pass? All of Feeleys throws were right on the money. The one throw to Chambers in double coverage was his only bad attempt.

Feeley definitely looks 10 times more accurate then Frerotte.

Now on to Frerotte. He definitely looks more comfortable in the offense. Conversely. How much better will some of you be saying that Gus was Had Chambers not been able to adjust and catch the horribly underthrown deep ball that had been thrown on target could have went the distance? How much better is Gus if Gilmore doesn't doesn't make the amazing catch on another poorly thrown ball from Frerotte.

Now before some of you bash what I am saying here is my point. The only reason GUS LOOked better is because the WR'S made adjustments or amazing catches. Feeley WR'S didn't have to make great catches or adjust because he was right on the money. He had bad luck on that Thompson catch.

With that said, I would say they both looked solid. You can't look at just the stats u gotta look at the game.

It is very clear Feeley is way more accurate and has the better arm. However, right now Gus is more comfortable and is better at checking off.

They both looked solid tonight period. Not outstanding but solid.

Ya know. It seems like some of the fans who I think believe "Aj should start at all cost," believe that everything is the surronding players fault when AJ fails, but he gets all the credit when he plays moderately well.

LOL not, but they did look better against the 2nd stringers.

Not trying to diminish it, but be real.

It is obviously clear that our O-line did better agains their 2nd stringers then when Feeley was in. Its just afact.

I'm sorry but to me Gus just doesn't seem to do it for me. Yes he did not look bad. But he did have some throws that did not really impress me at all. The touchdown was damn lucky because it was behind receiver. On another throw he threw it up and it looked weak. At least to me it did. It looked like it just died in mid air. And all of this against second string defense well he should look pretty decent against 2nd stringers. lets wait til next week to see how he looks against actual starters.

Had he lead the reciever like AJ would have it would have been an INT you are a blind homer, watch some film and see that he had to adjust and throw it behind to avoid an int.

i was suprised at how well he avoided the rush... i didn't know he could move that well

frerotte's whole first drive was first string vs first string, don't get it twisted.

Gus looked best on the short throws that went for yac. The longer throws were not very good. Gus was working against the second team. Gus had the benefit of offensive play calling adjusments that were made due to the blitz (i.e. short throws). The long ball to chambers and gilmore for the td were terrible and as stated in an earlier post were not made as adjustments to the defensive players position. Aj looked prety good made some good decisions to hold on to and throw away the ball. With the exception of the Thompson drop he looked pretty solid for not knowing the offense. I dont know that either qb made a case but it is still a race.

gus is the guy, who knows he is early 30's so a season or two and then the young guy, got to think berlin may be a possible player

gus went against 2nd stringers which made him look good.

aj went againsti 1st stringers and the OLINE sucked ***.

:yeahthat:

He put it where he needed to!

I would like to see AJ get the start though(if he earns it) he's younger and fEROTTE winning this battle just shows we have 2nd string qbs for starters
