Merged: Jason Cole: "Ricky will return.."/If Ricky comes back, he's here to stay?

Brown is better than both those RB's.
There is no doubt in my mind that he has the potential to be better than both combined.

Only thing he has going against him is having to face some of the top D's twice a year. By that I mean the Bills, Pats, and Jets.

See, what most people dont seem to understand is just how much more competitive and even better the AFC is than the NFC. When I see an RB go over the 1,000 yard mark in the NFC I shrug my shoulders, now if they can do it against the East that is impressive.

Thanks for the update.

For my part, I'll believe it when I see it. Not that I doubt your report, Section, or even Jason Cole's credibility, but the guy walked out on us once. He can change his mind again.
I agree, however.....his jet -setting ways have no doubt depleted his fun basket. He needs to make some money. I wouldnt put it past him to come back and suddenly get a mysterious injury.

Jones had almost 200 rushing yards against the Seahawks. Also he went over 100 yards against the Jets aswell.

I dont understand why some of you are arguing with GRSLAYER. He hasn't once bashed Ronnie Brown. All he has said is that Brown has the skills to be a great back but hasnt done anything yet in the NFL. We (all Dolphin fans) hope his skills translate, and I strongly believe they will. He (grslayer) has actually been very unbiased through this whole thread. All he his saying (which i agree) is that having Ricky will help this team. He would keep Browns carries lower, lowering the risk of injury, and is better than any backup in the league.

Well, if this is true lets hope he really makes an impact. That will give him some trade value because he won't be in Miami longer than this season.

Its cool, I guess I have to expect flak coming to an "enemies" board. But thank you, its good to see that at least one person gets "it."

Just to set the record strait, not all people come to other teams boards to talk ****. Please do keep that in mind.

I had said it a while ago, and it was well recieved as a funny line and truthful also......so I will quote myself:

Section126: "We are talking about the Demon here folks!..He may be a nutcase, but when that guy puts on that Uniform and steps onto the field, you know it's ON LIKE DONKEY KONG!"

Let me remind you all of what this guy was and what he could be.....AGAIN.
Thats right. I'm excited about Ronnie brown. However, I don't think Ronnie Brown could beat out a serious Ricky Williams. That said though, we already know that Ronnie can play FB and that Miami has a scheme that can use Ronnie as a H-Back, FB, and slot guy. In fact, Miami can use both backs in Pro sets as well as split backs. I'm not at all worried about having both guys.

Ricky Williams really lets us down last season. there is no certainty he wont do it again. That said though I still think he's the best player on this offense, and maybe best player on the team.

Atleast we both agree that we couldnt agree with each other.....
Neither Kevin nor Julius Jones proved they could carry the full load consistantly last season. Kevin Jones was constantly dinged up early in the season, and his productivity was low. Julius Jones missed about half the season. Both were very good when at 100%, but they wasnt very often.

I don't want to make our #2 pick a FB. What I hope happens is that Ricky and Ronnie will split snaps all season which will help ease Ronnie into the Pros. Then next offseason try and trade him for whatever we can get. As far as I am concerend this is Ronnie's team now, not Ricky's. I am ok with a one year return with Ricky, but thats it.

I'm sure they will split some snaps in Ace back and that ronnie will even get some carries from tailback in the I and other formations. Watching Minnesota over the past years, they spread the ball around alot to the RB's. Moe Williams, Michael Bennett, and a 3rd wheel each season all had lots of carries.

BTW- Just because Ronnie lines up at FB doesnt mean he isnt getting choice plays. A split back or pro formation gives him some excellent carries. So does an off set I.

I hope so, but we honestly have no idea. Kevin Jones was a STUD at Va Tech, and he carried the full load.

I'm not trying to piss in anyone's cheerios, but I'll reserve my opinion on Ronnie's NFL prowess until I actually see him in aqua and orange for a few games. Being a Finfan since the early 80's, I know better than to hold my breath waiting for rookies to breakout. For me, Dolphin rookies are like December schedules.

As per NFL rules...he cannot come back till July.

Ive been saying this for weeks, but i'm the loon around here. He is coming back in july/august area and it's nice to see a respected reporter back me up. Thanks for the update. It will be awesome to see our running attack this year. with ricky, i honestly think we have a shot at the playoffs. (of course with all the other upgrades we've had).

When ricky quit my heart was crushed. I threw my ricky jersey in the back of the closet. I wanted to burn it because I was so mad. I resulted to wearing it inside out. Then the new era came with Nick Saban and the new draft. I'm feeling great about Miami now. Then the news about Ricky's return. My feelings are mixed. One side says screw him. The other side says damn a Ricky and Brown running game would be awesome.

As long as Ricky apologizes to the fans and his teammates I will welcome him back with open arms. We all made mistakes in life. And as the saying goes. "As long as I learn I will make mistakes". I believe Ricky and Ron would be the best one two punch the NFL has ever seen. I want what's best for Miami. And having him back would only be a positive.
