MERGED: Jim Harbaugh/Dolphins 2015 Speculation

I have zero faith in Philbin. Sorry. It's either playoffs in 2014 or he's gone. It's as simple as that. I hope he's gone regardless of what happens.

Even if we win the superbowl? ****... I'd be happy with a wildcard spot.

harbaugh aint going nowhere. SF is home to him. Stanford.

and if he was leaving why would he come here? He would have his pick of teams there will be another 6 or 7 jobs open next year

Harbaugh is one of the best coaches in the league.

There is a reason why the 49ers are not rushing to extend him. He has the reputation of being a total prick. Yes, he is talented and knows what he's doing, but extremely difficult to work with.
In simple terms he's like Nick Saban version II, only less friendly and more intense. Trent Baalke the GM and Jed York, the owner, know what they have. He's definitely good but why would a competitive playoff team with everything going for it (good young QB, great Defense, etc) would consider letting him go? I'm pretty sure I'm right.
Stephen Ross has donated $200M+ to Michigan University. He loves Michigan alums and make no mistake, they love him for the $200M to upgrade the University and the athletics facilities. Jim Harbaugh is a wolverine and probably appreciated Ross' overtures when he left Stanford. Having the second wealthiest billionaire in the NFL actively woo can be good for the ego. Ross showed a lot of loyalty to Joe, but he has to do well to survive.

Id kill to have Nick Saban II - only problem with Saban was that he left.

Can't trade for a coach. It's a tricky scenario where a team can give a team compensation for basically buying out that coaches contract. The coach is then free to sign with another team...if Harbaugh doesn't want to come to Miami...you can't force him.

This pretty much sums it up. Coaches aren't a tradeable commodity. They can refuse to go to a team, unlike a player trade. Harbaugh can choose the team he wants to coach for.

That depends on whether the owner values Harbaugh over Baalke, his highly regarded up-and-coming GM. Many think the relationship between the two has soured so badly that the owner will have to let one go ...and if they can pick up draft picks for Harbaugh, he might be the one to move on.

Just looking at everything that would have to happen to land Harbaugh I see no way this blows up in our face!
