Merged: Matt Leinart

Oh God it's the stupid chart again. I wish that never was released to fans, know it's a bible for all trades according to all Finheaven users :shakeno:

IT DOESN'T ALWAYS APPLY, Especially not last year...

What are you talking about? The trade that went down for Manning follows the draft chart almost perfectly.

Eli didn't say he wanted to go to the Giants, just that he decided playing for the Chargers was not what he wanted to do. Leinart would be pretty justified for saying he doesn't want to play for a team owned by Tom Benson.

What am I talking about? The garbage FinFans spewed last year thinking we could basically get the Viking's entire fortune of picks last year without realizing it all depends on demand not that bull**** formula...

Manning was a desired top pick, Brown and Edwards were not yet fans couldn't understand that.

The Vikings never wanted to trade up anyway, so thats a seperate issue. I'm talking about what it would take to get from #16 to #2, which is what this thread is about. And any trade that would go down if we were interested in moving up would follow that chart.

It's not really a separate issue. It's all about supply and demand. That chart is usually at best a good gauge of supply but not demand. It's a quick reference tool to use to see if you really want to follow through with the trade that you're considering.

What fans never seem to understand is that "trading down" is only even an option probably like 10% of the time. I would say that "trading up" is technically ALWAYS an option, because you can always just keep increasing the offer until the team says yes. But trading down means there has to be a team that wants to trade up. What if the #5 pick Green Bay offers us to trade up to their spot and guys like Leinart, Bush, Hawk, and Ferguson are off the board. Heck, what if they even offer us a "good" deal that doesn't go by the trade value chart? We going to do it? Nope. You don't just trade down by default.

Speilman probably has that chart postered somewhere in his room. GM's don't and shouldn't go by charts. And I don't think NO is going to be smart enough to ask for much for that pick. They've got their own problems handling the whole relocation debacle as well as the fact that their D is still borderline high school level. They kept Haslett for far too long. I wouldn't mind forking over our 1st rounder, some other picks and next year's 1st for a shot at Leinart. Either way, no good QB is going to land in our spot when we draft unless Quinn declares.

Evaluating Matt Leinart

Lets see what this guy is made of tonight. I Dont buy into the hype about this guy. He is "great" college quaterback and nothing more. He will get drafted high and make millions but will never do anything in the NFL.

Hes already made a couple of good check offs, and throws that were on the money.

Hes a winner and will do more of the same tonight

All Members Please Read - Forum Changes!
Hello Everyone!

Because the staff at FinHeaven is always looking for better ways to organize, and streamline the site, we've decided to re-structure a portion of it.
You'll notice that what was once the College| Draft Forum has now been split.
We've renamed the original forum to simply "College Football" and created a new forum called "Draft Forum". We are now in the process of moving threads around so that they are in the appropriate forums.
We've also created a new sub-forum within the General NFL forum, called "Free Agents".
We ask that you keep these forums in mind when posting, as we'd like to continue keeping the main Dolphins forum uncluttered, and pertaining to the current Dolphins team.

When posting, please keep these guidelines in mind:

Miami Dolphins - Please keeps threads related to current Dolphins players/staff etc here

College Football - Please keep threads related to current college teams/players/games here

Draft Forum - Please keep mock drafts/draft wish lists/potential draft picks, etc in here.

Free Agents - Please keep discussions about potential free agents here.

We realize that this may mean an adjustment for everyone, but we feel that in the long run it will make things easier for all of us. Not only will it make it "cleaner" and uncluttered in the main forum, but it will also make it easier to find the FA discussions, mock drafts etc...

If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to contact the Staff either by PM or by posting in the Questions and Comments forum.

Thanks in advance for your anticipated cooperation, and we look forward to an active offseason of improving our Dolphins through free agency and the draft, and an exciting 2006 football season!
