Merged: The Official Ryan Grice-Mullen Thread

Why would you get rid of Bess? Yes he will be looking for a new contract next year, but he will be a RFA. The way he played his first two seasons, I don't think the Dolphins front office will have any problem giving him the long term deal he deserves. We are not going to have to break the bank to keep him.

Bess is a great slot/possession receiver for us and the addition of Marshall makes him even better. Realistically, I could see Bess putting up Welker like numbers this season.

Now if RGM pans out, you can keep him also. The Patriots are not going to trade or release Welker just because they have Julian Edelman on the team now.

Look, I am rooting for RGM, but I am not going to blindly think he is going to be just as good as Bess is. Hopefully he can be, but at this moment, I hope he can just contribute as a returner.

Everybody take a deep breath. Now I am not hatin'. I think RGM brings some things to the table that the Dolphins need. The question is, is he bringing a feast or a package of Twinkies from the vending machine? I am concerned that in two years in Canada in a pass happy league he put up VERY mediocre stats. Ricky had injury issues and to deal with a pass centered league when he played up north. But how can a NFL quality receiver not just tear it up in Canada? He had a shot in the NFL and didn't stick. Maybe (like Wake) he has learned and matured and has elevated his game to be able to make plays against a NFL quality defense. Let's see how this kid looks WITH PADS ON and not just in shorts before we anoint him the heir apparent to the return and speed receiver roles.

Don't be surprised if on day 1 it's Patrick Cobbs returning kicks. That's one dude (like Camarillo) I don't bet against. Every time we have thought they would be replaced they make the team through hard work and sheer willpower.

Mike all this talk about RGM making this team is laughable - thanks for your reality check... RGM is not to the CFL and disrupting Defeness what Wake was to the Offenses of the CFL - the sooner people realize what a non factor RGM is the better... I mean Wake was doubled & tripled team as a DE... RGM was hardly on the field...

Why won't anyone contend with RGMs 2009 stats...? They are what they are...

Somebody give me a good reason RGM makes this team...?

These were WR Kelly Campbell's stats in the CFL in 2008 - at least he cracked 1000 yds and had 7 TDs

Ricky Williams is one of the best running backs to play the game and in Canada he did nothing. I guess the means Ricky is Training Camp fodder as well.

I already explained to you a little about the CFL game late the passing rules favour the O, the punt return rules favour the returns teams... RWs arrival did not change the Argos from a pass first team...

I am sorry your favourite player is fodder he deosn't like the contact near as much as you are touting..., he is half the player Ginn was and Ginn should probably be on some roster as a 5th WR and return specialist - I know they gave him a change of scenery and I'm glad that he is gone but RGM - are you freaking kidding me...?

And those Colt Brennan to the Dreads vids means precious little - nothing to the pro teams who are trying to knock your head off just as Pat White... Brennan to the Dreads vids - who the heck were they playing -- Why do you saty up at night to watch bad football...?

Georgia crushed - Brennan and the the Dreads - in the Bowl - savour that...

Look RGM came out to early. I believe he had just turned 20 years old and he was raw. While he did not tear it up receiving in Canada, he stood out in KR/PR duties. The kid has talent and he is only 23 years old, RGM is a perfect example of a guy coming out to early, but flourishing through hard work.

He did eh...? Why not admit you have never watched the CFL...?

As far as Sparanos comments on RGM goes - what do you freakin expect...?

I remember Sparano or BP making a few nice comments... about Donal Thomas...

Oh yes....

I remember when... Donald Thomas was a lock for RG shortly after being drafted... prior to putting pads on he was a starter..., and a Pro-bowler after a few practices..., and after a few pre-season games heck people were designing his hall of fame bust...

Just temper your expectations and I might be able to lay off all this misguided hoopla

when you watch guys in college and they come to your favorite pro team, that satisfaction is incredible.

I hear you there. Being an Illinois fan, I've followed Vontae Davis since High School when I knew he had committed to the Illini. I can't tell you how stoked I was when we drafted him. Same with Tony Romo...I went to college with him and although he does not play for the Fins, it still blows my mind that he's lighting up the pros coming from EIU.

The year I began noticing RGM & Bess in Hawaii games was the year the Trifecta got here. I remember saying we could use those two guys on our team, both looked like stars in the run and shoot offense. After watching one Hawaii game early in the season I was hooked. I would stay up till sometimes 3 a.m. and 4 a.m. watching Hawaii games. The way Bess and RGM played was just amazing.

So, when we signed Bess as UDFA, I knew he what it took to make the team, just like I know now RGM has what it takes to make the team. When Davone finally made the team I was extremely happy and I think now its RGM time.

Are you done with your anti-RGM campaign? My hopes of RGM making the team are not based on just his CFL work, they are based on what I saw from him in college. The kid has speed, he is able to shed DB and when the ball is in his hands he looks like running back. He has no respect for his body, that is based on all the diving, twisting and leaping catches I have seen him make over the years.

As for me not watching the CFL I actually try to catch several games a year. You are talking to a guy who watches pee wee, NCAA football, Arena, CFL & NFL. RGM might not have the best stats in Canada, but put tape on the guy and you will see he is good player. If you just don't like and are bitter for Miami trading the ball less one, then I cannot help you.

RGM will take Ginn's spot and actually do something with it. He will be our deep threat. Bye-bye Turner

It is funny to me that someone would say the guy is camp fodder. Miami has carried five wide receiver the last two years during the season. We know four who are locks in Marshall, Bess, Hartline & Cam, but Turner is not a guarantee to make this team.

Patrick was drafted to a team with question marks at WR and did not see a catch come his way, let alone any time on the field. It does not help him that he is not good at special teams player, especiallt when it is known that they want backups to fill more than one role. Then there is the other fact that Miami has no KR/PR nor drafted one. How about the fact Miami just traded two 2nd round picks for a player that Turner is very similiar to, size wise, in Marshall.

It is not looking good for Patrick and with Marshall, Hartline, Bess & Cam I really hope that final spot or two is given to RGM who could help this team in more than one way.

and RGM has been cut by two NFL teams in two seasons. He has yet to even make the roster of a practice squad, let alone the roster of a team.

Look, RGM is a beast. I followed him, Bess, CJ Hawthorne, and Jason Rivers all the time when they were at Hawaii. The problem is that RGM has yet to even see the game speed of the NFL and you guys think he is basically a lock to make the team. You can't say its not looking good for Turner while basically saying RGM has a spot on this team.
