Mike Wallace's Career Deep Receiving Statistics: Tannehill vs. Roethlisberger

Just speculating..but maybe Ryan doesnt feel like he has to nail the throw with Hartline. He just throws its knowing Brian will come up with the catch. He doesnt have that kind of trust in Wallace..because Wallace really hasn't earned it yet. Wallace said himself..he wants a ball out front he can run under and score. Sometimes over thinking can be an issue...just a thought.

He's better on throws of 20+ yards downfield, though we don't know the distance of the throws to him on average, compared to the ones thrown to Wallace. Of course it's plausible that if the throws to Wallace are significantly farther, then the distance of the throws alone could explain the difference between Wallace and Hartline in this area.

So, "HAL" is confused?

Yea, but more often than not it is simply the lack of talent that is the issue.

Just a thought....... YOURE over thinking it.

I have not seen anyone on this site say his throws a good deep ball.. Your beating a dead horse.. Some people believe he does other things well enough and can improve in this area.. I personally believe he is still learning a lot as a qb and has only been around the same coaches its time to read a different book for Ryan

The Angry Deniers have sunk to a new low. Ryan Tannehill is now responsible for Wallace's performance a full season before joining the Dolphins. :lol2:

Nah. Just this one. Roethlisberger was his QB in 2012. Thats on him.

I know I watched every game this year. I know I saw Mike Wallace wide open for a walk in TD on numerous occasions. I know I saw a complete misfire by the QB on almost every one of those occasions.

Or said differently, when Ben Roethlisberger threw no greater a percentage than Tannehill of catchable balls downfield, Mike Wallace played no better downfield with Roethlisberger than with Tannehill.

I don't think that's surprising.

And I saw Wallace drop at least one, step out of bounds on another, and fail to win the battle for still more. Looks to me like it is Wallace's production that has been dropping. Nothing is quite as cut and dried as the haters pretend.

There is not a single Angry Denier on this board that would have guessed that Wallace's production in 2012 was nearly identical to 2013. The only constant in the downward trend is Wallace.

The "constant" is the percentage of downfield throws that have been catchable.

"HAL" doesn't have the data and therefore can't make a conclusion. If you have it, though, I'd be happy to learn. :)

Nah, it's a human thing with guys like Bradshaw, Big Ben, Marino, Jaws, etc, as well as the WR's saying it takes a year. I could add in coaches but, what's the point? HAL has spoken, and his programer is flawed. :)

It's certainly plausible that it takes a year, though that's inconsistent with the decline Wallace showed downfield in 2012, in his fourth year with Roethlisberger.

The difference that year? Roethlisberger threw a much lower percentage of catchable balls downfield than he had the previous three years.
