Nothing percolating” for Mike Gesicki contract extension

And the Gesicki haters are out in full force. Every single season he’s made you all look silly and yet here you are again.

All he does is catch TDs while you whine he’s not the best blocker.

This isn’t the 60s, 70s,80s…this is modern FB and the TE position has evolved.

It's true!

Some of our posters are not effected by evolution - LOL

They are like rocks; only erosion, not wisdom, changes them - LOL

You can't take ANUfan to heart. That's his M.O. to enter a thread spewing baseless anger and bile. He likes entering discussions like a rabid animal.

That basically depends on your point of view. Now if you are rabid, look out …. - LOL

Hopefully if they are waiting to offer him a new contract after the season, they aren’t expecting other teams to offer him a low ball contract. Based on how the Dolphins were outbid for Charles Clay when he was a free agent and the Dolphins were hoping to resign him. I think Gesicki will likely get a very solid offer from teams interested in his specific skill set.

Whether that skill set is what Flores is looking for long term at the TE position will be determined over the next 9 months. The Dolphins will either sign him to a new contract, franchise him after the season
or just let him walk and hopefully get a draft pick in compensation if he signs with another team.

Win - Win - Win.

Have we got a good FO, or what - LOL

Possible, but not only does that usually result in animosity for the player, I also don't see the point, in general.

We would have to pay (relatively) top $ to retain MG. If we feel he is an integral part going forward, why not just give him a contract? If not, why tie up that cap money, unless we are just buying time for Long to develop.

The more we pay him, the more expensive it will be to unload him (trade or otherwise).

I have no information as to what the team will do, but I suspect they'll keep their options open and their potential costs low.

I estimate over half of the posters here either have no idea what player development is or just simply elect to ignore it. It's all immediate impact or its nothing in thier minds. Comical if you ask me.
(They are easy to spot, just look for the "I hope I'm wrong" anywhere in thier post)

That's what separates great evaluators from all the others.

Most "fans" never see beyond what a player is. Good player evaluation takes into account what a player CAN BE, with top level coaching.

When it comes to this player, M.G. You better beleive it! I'm very rabid!

Why? Because myself and a few others were the only ones that said this kid had some serious talent and all he needed was more time and opportunity.

Ofcourse we were right and ofcourse the "He can't block! He runs like a Giraffe!" etc etc etc opinions are still around. Now they've morphed into he's not worth x,y,z because of those previous things.

Not enough eggs for those post!

Can we use a second round tender on him, and right of first refusal......or is that only for players with 3 years experience with an expiring contract? The tendering of FA's is always kind of confusing to me.
