i already know where this is going. he will point out the last two seasons of 7-9 and 8-8.
There is a huge laundry list of reasons, but sure, we can start there.
In addition:
- He doesn't excel in any particular area that successful head coaches do, such as xs & os, motivation, delegation, etc.
- He doesn't connect with players
- He doesn't have control of the locker room
- Under his watch we witnessed one of the most embarrassing episodes in Dolphins history
- Under his watch the team imploded with 2 games to go and the playoffs on the line against teams with nothing to play for
- He doesn't fit the system to his players, he tries to force the players to his system
- He isn't an inspiring figure whatsoever
- He isn't a great game day coach
- His teams often come out flat, either at the beginning of games or after half time
The list goes on and on. Philbin is nothing more than your run of the mill coach. At best, he is a Jim Caldwell or Brad Childress - tepid personalities who can manage to bring the team to a championship game (and no further) with HOF-level quarterbacking, but are ultimately losers not fit for a head coach position.
