Philbin was right to run out the clock at the end of the half.....

Here is the short answer. Do you want a coach who says to before halftime, lets play safe so Buffalo does not get the ball again, or do you want a coach who says lets go score some points.

Keep in mind that we faced the same Buffalo team last year. Nobody learned anything from that? AND we have more weapons this year right?

Tannehill is a 3rd year qb. If he cant drive down and get a score, THEN WHEN WILL HE???

Philbin is underwhelming and costing us games - he singlehandedly lost the game where he had Tanney passing when we could just run out the clock, and Clabo got turnstiled, voila -> TO / FG / game over

You don't concede anything in football - players pick up on that crap from both sides

Keep in mind fellas that 3 incomplete passes on that last drive would give the Bills the ball back with about 1 minute and 45 seconds left with good field position. At that point we weren't completing any passes and it was the right call. We couldn't sustain any drives at that time, and the only reason we got a few rushing yards at the end of the half was because Buffalo was defending the big play pass.

Whats the likelihood of your WR making and great block on a fast moving safety? Thats not a high success rate for a play.

You would think they could mix in a run with 4 stoppages -
seriously

Sherman called a run that play and Tannehill changed it to a pass. So if thats the reason you have a stick in your craw you might want to redirect...

And besides, even if he did call a pass Tannehill's pick 6, the pick in the redzone and letting a defender pluck the ball from his hand might have also contributed to the loss. So even if Philbin called a pass (which he didn't) it wouldn't have been a single handed effort on his part.

I'm not saying the Bills will be the better team when the two teams meet again, but last Sunday they outplayed the Dolphins and deserved the win.

Here are Miami's drives leading up to the half:

4 plays, 4 yards, PUNT
5 plays, 14 yards, BLOCKED PUNT
4 plays, -8 yards, PUNT
4 plays, 10 yards, PUNT
3 plays, 3 yards, PUNT

Now after seeing your offense in 5 pathetic drives, I'm taking my team to the locker room to get their heads on straight.

How do you keep defending mediocrity? How do you do it?

Eh, I don't think so.
-our line may have been getting beat up till then, but as I recall we did get a first down rushing. And usually we are successful running the two minute drill. ( yeah I know he threw a pick at the end of the game)
-They WERE getting the ball back to start the second half is all the more reason to go for it.
-I just think it really sends the wrong message to the whole team, to the offense, punt team, and defense. Never saw such a thing in my whole life of watching this game. With 1 minute left? Ok. But with 2:19, all the timeouts and the 2 minute warning...just blew my mind...what if there was 3 minutes? 4? I mean geez there was forever football time left.
-I doubt any of us "armchair qbs" would have blamed Philbin for trying to get a score had disaster happened. I for one had faith that our d would hold em to a FG had we had to punt. Still we get the ball back to start 2nd half still only down 2 scores.
- no, one block and that 4th down play gets a first...although I think the better play would be for RT to sneak it, but I wasn't upset with the call. At least it was creative.

I think all of u armchair quarterbacks would have been pissing and moaning if disaster struck at the end of the first half... Not a doubt in my mind

Wrong Bro. You gotta have nuts to coach in this game.

That and you gotta be smart. Unfortunately the offense wasn't performing and getting beat bad. Smart thing to do was run some clock, avoid disaster, and go in and make some adjustments. The offense hadn't drive into bills territory the whole first half, what the hell would make any coach think that after 5 or 6 putrid possessions that 2 min before the half , pressing it downfield, good things would happen.
Smart coach realizes that if they score again before the half, the points and momentum shift would be huge...coaches that are ballsy and don't have the talent or the experience with their players don't last long

I wish Philbin would use some of this magic potion that automatically makes everything sunshine and goodness during halftime before the game, so we wouldn't always have to talk about re-grouping at halftime.

Wow, a rational well thought post by someone with some knowledge of the game. Was irritating seeing the "you gotta have balls to coach at this level" and "Philbin sucks" posts... Cheers

The truth hurts you guys.

We've got a coach and a QB that aren't up to the challenge and I'm sorry you can't realize it.

 @ "the truth hurts"

I can see just fine thanks. I criticize the coach and the quarterback when they deserve it, you on the other hand, criticize fans because they don't think like you do. Big surprise!

Maybe ur right, but the end of the half decision made by Philbin, in that situation is pretty text book for coaches that want to give their team a shot to win, as well as keep their jobs
