Phins talking point: Moore not going anywhere soon, Egnew not making an impact yet

Funny, it looked to me like he separated from the guy who was covering him and made the play.

He was playing an inside zone on the TE. He was out of the zone area and then got chased down by a LB. For an apparent athletic WR type TE threat he seems to get caught

The LB picked him up right off the snap and Egnew beat him, then a DB tackled him after a nice gain. It wasn't like he snuck into dead space in zone coverage- he beat his man, he separated from him. Let's just wait and see how Egnew does this season- I view him differently than you do obviously, we'll see how he does.

For some of the of the new people.............the dolphins are working with him to be an in line blocker so he can become a " real TE " some day.

They know what he can do playing outside as a big WR.....anyways, the guy was a 3rd round pick so if he's still in the NFL in 3 years i'd say jim1 wins this debate.

It's far more common for a 3rd round pick to be in the NFL after 3 years than it is for them not to be. Come on now.

The average player only plays in the nfl for 3.5 years..........and them are the ones who make it.

So make it 4 years then, because 70% of 3rd don't make it in the nfl.

You see a lot ya know that have done much of anything http://www.nfl.com/draft/2009/tracker#dt-tabs:dt-by-round/dt-by-round-input:3 it's bust city starting in the 3rd round every year, and only 50 % of 2rd draft picks make it, and after the 3rd round it gets worst and worst...........and them numbers come from a GM of a football team.

ha ha...i tried to tell you guys michael egnew was way overdrafted and wouldn't separate in the pros....bad draft pick...

I think he'll end up being a difference maker. Once he gets on the field I don't think they'll be able to take him off of it. His physical skill set is too rare. He'll never be an elite blocker but will jimmy graham? Will rob housler? Will jermain Gresham? The list goes on. We all know what he was brought in to do. And once you get egnew and clay in the field at the same time, defenses are gonna have their hands full

Those statistics (average NFL career is 3.5 years etc) are skewed due to players who last a single season, typically guys who are UDFAs who stick for a single camp and then get cut and never resigned. Even using your link, over 65% of those guys are still collecting an NFL paycheck.

A 3rd round pick is not a big deal, but if he isn't contributing in any way shape or form by next camp, then I think we've got our answer. You'll still see a single flash from a guy with potential at the TE position especially in an offense like this

You forgot "nyah nyah." In the event of debate over this post, you may wish to resort to the "I'm rubber, you're glue" defense.

being still in the league in 3 damn years doesn't mean a thing...patrick turners been in the league 3 years...has that been anything but a damn bust??? this kid needs to be a difference maker...

but keep the excuses coming fellas...i'm sure there's some more ones you can come up with... ghost in shorts and a helmet and ghost in full pads despite a golden opportunity...

The need for excuses isn't even there yet. They haven't played a down of football.

Miami has players that light up training camp every year that never see the field, as does every other team in the league. There's a lot of pro-bowl players in the NFL that were cut from training camps....twice.

The coaches aren't going to rush a 3rd round pick at the TE position, they already have a starter and a #2 with experience.

It's probably a little early to start diggin' our heels in. Pay attention to their development.

come on slimm...guys come all the time in this league now at te and contribute as pass catchers from the jump...charles clay is making a complete position switch fasano is never gonna be a real seam threat mastruds value is 99 percent as a blocker...this kid should be flashing more given whats in front of him...that said today is the first time i've really heard his name in practice..said he roasted koa misi in one on ones...

Uh oh hoops. Egnew heard you were talking smack about him, lol.

Omar Kelly@OmarKelly Michael Egnew just roasted Koa Misi during 1-on-1.

Omar Kelly@OmarKelly
Michael Egnew with his second impressive catch during 1-on-1.

These were back-to-back.

Give me one who has no experience playing from a 3-point stance in college that came in and did it...

You're talking as if the season is over and Egnew did nothing to contribute... it ain't even started yet.
