practice tweets day 10

I watched some Seattle Seahawk practice the other day on TV. For an extended period they played 9 on 7 (that's 9 Defense against 7 Offense). They already have a very strong Defense and it was obviously unfair, but there was no condemnation of Russell Wilson for having multiple interceptions. In contrast, all the local tweeters bash Tannehill for his failures. Who said the battles need to be totally fair?

I would imagine wilson would have a rough time just 7 on 7 against that defense. 9 on 7 is unfair.

Tannehill wasn't great last offseason, iirc. This defense is totally legit, I think we're looking at a breakout, if the LB corps can avoid stinking the place out.

The O needs to make major leaps forward tho and we should be seeing better signs in practice.

Early practice picks not that big of a deal imo. new offense, new routes, some new WRs to learn. Im way more concerned about some of the injuries.

I care more about how the practiced in the scrimmage than I do in a controlled practice.

Local radio here in the NE was discussing the NYG and how they are installing a new offensive system. They weren't surprised by Eli and the offense struggling during the Hall of Fame game and hoped that they could be on the same page by Week 1. Well it's no different in Miami and our offense is going up against a better, more established defense. We will be fine.

well at least they said the protection and oline play was better today...baby steps i guess

i still need my qb to step up...new offense sure but he should be getting good looks as a result...

the giants problem is three fold...new offense sure but the real issues they got to remedy are the oline and the fact that they have no one who will remotely scare a defense at wr or tight end other than victor cruz who is sure to see over under coverage once teams start gameplanning for them...

good luck giants..teams will load up to stop those downhill runners and make someone other than cruz beat them...and they don't got it...pretty obvious already

they made a ton of changes on the oline for sure and i'm not sure they have solid enough personnel to keep eli clean with what they have...better use a lot of rise and fire and 3 step drops cause eli needs to play in a traditional pocket he's not a plus athlete by any means

We know Ryan Tannehill can be a competent NFL quarterback in real games. He's already demonstrated that. So while it definitely sucks to read that he is serving up picks in practice, this is also the first time in a long time that we've heard that our offensive line has actually been able to block our defensive line in practice.

So yeah, baby steps.

Well also throw in that Chris Snee unexpectedly retired, and Dave Diehl is gone as well so they have more holes on the OL than they thought.

Oh and reportedly, the only OL position really up for now is RG, but it's more Dallas Thomas vs Billy Turner. Shelley Smith is supposedly already relegated to 2nd team.

if he's getting time to go thru his progressions i expect a qb i have so much faith in to make plays...i demand it actually...that's what legit qbs do...thiis offense should provide him plenty of opportunities provided the oc is legit...and so far i really like what i'm hearing with regards to that...the playbook should be wide open...even if the protection doesn't allow for certain things to develop...if it does then i expect to see vertical passing game in full effect

and my qb torching mo fos

I don't know what to think about our defense. I'm still really concerned about how our run defense is going to look without Paul Soliai, but it's possible we'll have a good pass defense. I'm still not sold on Delmas but it sounds like Coyle has reclaimed Finnegan off of that scrap heap.

The offense and specifically Tannehill doing damn good in the scrimmage is more important then how they perform in practice.

Especially when Wallace and Hartline and also Clay aren't even there.

If they want to go up tempo and no huddle, Tannehill was excellent at that last year. I couldn't figure out why they didn't do it more. It seemed like every time they were in the end of half/game situation he was very good at making plays. As long as the O-line is starting to gel, I'm not worried. As far as the D is concerned, if the LB's improve and if the offense can sustain drives and score points, they will be a top 5 D. This D is built to play from ahead with the D-line and secondary.
