You guys will defend this team in interesting ways...
Comparing us to the Patsies....LOL
Comparing us to the Patsies....LOL
Different scheme...Different O-line....we have to see it fully play out before intelligent decisions can be made about the future.
Criticize?....yes....but give up?...too early.
Read the whole thread....I admitted that wasn't perfect example later...however...the point is valid that you don't give up after two weeks...one of which wasn't too awful unless you are a loser.
And I really don't get why people bring up the last 30 years and all sort of past failures when judging what is happening now. This is a new year. New GM, new system, many new players. Others young and still developing. Nothing is written. Shouldn't we watch more than two games before going mental, especially when one of those games was a huge win???
Past failures are nothing more than a ghost that haunts some people's nightmares, they have no power over the present. Do you really believe because Fiedler didn't have enough talent or the defense couldn't help the Marino teams that this year's team is doomed after a loss to Buffalo? Does Wannested have Philbin's ear? Seriously, people, just listen to yourselves.
Its an ADD riddled, instant gratification needing culture in 21st century America. So, if the phins have allegedly been irrelevant for decades then shouldn't New England, Baltimore, Denver, Seattle, potsburgh, & San Francisco be judged more harshly?
Yet, in the Pacific NW, I doubt they are calling for R Wilson & P Carroll to be gutted like the catch of the day @ Pikes Place.
That said, The theme song for this site (especially after phins losses) s/b Metallica's Poor twisted me.
Fine, you saw the perfect season, and another SB after that. Good for you. You have nothing to complain about the rest of your life, but those of us who are now 30 freakin' years old are still yet to see this team do anything. I started watching this team when I was 9 years old, and I'm still yet to see them get past the second round. People in their teens have yet to see them win a playoff game. And it's not just "Quitting after a couple of games", we pretty much know what we've got in Tannehill right now, in his third year.Speak for yourself...I saw the perfect season.
I also have watched this game long enough to know you don't quit after 2 games with a 1-1 start....unless you are truly of a loser mentality.
I was shocked when I saw the name attached to the OP. He should know better than a comparison of this type, and plenty of posters appropriately let him know about it.
Patriots on the road after a loss is as close to a certainty as we have these days in the NFL. It remains to be seen how good they are in normal weeks. Brady's arm still looks fine but his downfield accuracy is not what it used to be. That's the primary concern I've heard from two friends who are New England fans, along with how much Wilfork has left, and whether too many marginal players are starting on the offensive line.
As far as anyone who saw the Perfect Season not having anything to complain about, that's rubbish. I'm sickened that younger fans get stuck with a stadium like this, instead of a rollicking venue that dictates outcomes and brings out the passion and ferocity of the entire community. I hated to leave the Orange Bowl area after all those dominant wins by the Dolphins and Canes.
Past failures don't influence future outcomes, it just feels that way since we've endured such crap over the years. I just find it shocking anyone can draw a conclusion this quickly and be so adamant about it, when in reality if we enter the bye 3-1 everyone will just flip. Haven't we watched enough football to know there's ups and downs and not to get too high or too low at the drop of a pin?
I don't get why people bring up when successful teams lose and compare it to the Dolphins. Miami hasn't done anything in 30 years. They get no benefit of the doubt. New England, Seattle, San Francisco, teams like these have gotten to places Miami hasn't in 20+ years. To be fans of those teams is completely different than us here.
