Do you want to put up or shut up? Care to analyze the OL play? Try to cover the following:
1. Are all sacks created equal?
2. What are the primary causes of sacks?
3. Is there any way to determine the types of sacks that occurred?
4. How did Miami and Seattle compare in the types of sacks that were allowed?
What are you trying to prove here?
Not every poor read, interception, or fumble that came from Tannehill last season was a result of poor offensive line play. If you truly believe that is the case, then you aren't objective as fan at all.
Look, Tannehill was decent last year, but certainly not spectacular. And he wet the bed at home against the Jets, with an opportunity to make the playoffs. That's just the facts. Deny them if you will. There was no poor protection during the Jets game. Just poor quarterback play. He had a clean pocket the majority of the game, and the offense was only able to muster up 7 points with him at quarterback. That's not good. Not good in the least bit. Certainly not what I'd like to see from my quarterback with everything on the line.
And yeah, it's put or shut up for Tannehill. Why? Because if we go 7-9/8-8 again, the house is going to be cleaned. And the new regime is likely going to find their own quarterback. And if you or anyone else don't think that's not going to happen should the Dolphins fail to get over the hump this year again, you are all kidding yourselves. Ross' patience has run very thin.
Now I certainly HOPEFUL Tannehill makes the leap, but I'm skeptical.
Some of you need to understand, this isn't about being a Tannehill supporter or detractor. This is about being a
REALIST Dolphin fan. Make no mistake, I
want Tannehill to be
GREAT. But I'm not going to blindly anoint the guy. He's got to show it. And so far, he's shown that he's
decent. I do see some upside, and I'm hopeful Bill Lazor and the new offense can help trigger some of that upside. But again, until I see the consistency, I'm going to remain skeptical.
