RB? Flo knows better.

Miami could have picked any RB over Noah but they went with Noah I. who looked like crap on the field.
Cool, yeah, and there were a lot of analysts at the time also saying that Noah was one of the best picks in the draft. He's playing one of the toughest positions in the NFL where all his mistakes are magnified, and the "look like crap on the field" thing comes from him being thrust into action in week two against what turned out to be an offense that made much more experienced DBs look like garbage.

I think older fans (I catch myself doing this) default to the old school way of a workhorse back and it makes you feel better to have that slot taken care of but the NFL is so different now that successful teams have a solid running game by several RBs (unless of course you have someone like D Henry lol).
The NFL has changed where most teams are doing RBBC. That's true. But teams are still drafting RBs highly. So while they aren't picking one first or second round QB to ride into oblivion, they often have a couple guys taken rds 1-4.

As I've alluded to before, NE was basically the first team to pretty much permanently adopt the RBBC approach. And while they were just fine with a diamond in the rough pass catching specialist if they could fine one, they pretty much never stopped pumping 1-3 rd picks into the RB position.

Another take...

Is it possible once JAC selected Etienne MIA changed gears and is now targeting James Robinson in a trade for a lower round pick than they would have had to use to draft the same caliber RB? Urban Meyer can talk all day about Etienne being a 3rd down compliment to Robinson. We all know he’s more than that.

I also like Chris Evans late.

I always wonder why bad teams pick running backs early. Jacksonville is awful across the board and they went RB. I guess that’s Urban Meyer thinking he is still recruiting for a college offense or Lawrence pounding the table for his boy. And then Denver scrambling for another RB in a division with Mahomes and now Herbert able to put up video game numbers in the passing game. Vic Fangio is in the Stone Age.

Good news - Some good names available - Gainwell, Carter, Felton, Hubbard, Hill would all likely be our lead back right now and Evans, Stevenson, Patterson, Ragas would all have a role

Bad news - we don't pick in rounds 4 or 6

Wow, just wow. So running the ball is now only a small aspect of the Offense. The running game is what sets you up for 2nd and 3rd and short. Putting Tua in 3rd and long situations because your RBs are below average isn’t good. Hope the Oline is better cause their going to need to lead the way
He is right. You just need the threat of the run which we will have . Its all about the passing game. You can get a late round or a rookie free agent to run the rock. Rb last 3 yrs if you are lucky then you get another one

I want the 2nd coming of Ricky Williams without the dark visor.
Is there a guy in the draft next year ?

I think if Miami really wanted Williams they would have traded up. They had the picks.

I do hope the team takes a running back late. Stevenson, Hill, Herbert...
Apparently they tried to trade up into rd 1 for etienne or Harris chris koufman said last night. Didnt expand on it just it was of a v good source.
My guess is they had something in place with New Orleans (their pick of Payton Turner looks like a bit of a reach) and were expecting at least Etienne to be there...like u say it looks like they didn't really rate anyone outside those two

Those years are long gone. How many playoff wins did those Ricky years we had?

It depends on how good your qb is.. we need good rb because nobody know how good Tua is going be..m

Elijah Mitchell in 5th round?

IIRC Big Rob went to Louisiana-Lafayette?

If the answer is yes then who's to say that he wasn't the only same school prospect being scouted that day?

Hypothetical scenario of course if a trade up in the 4th for a RB doesn't occur.

Gaskin was consistently good last year. Only thing that held him back from being one of the best in the league was the injury and then Covid. Besides that we could use a bruiser. Let’s get Rhamondre Stevenson if he’s there next pick. Bruiser who can block to complement Gaskin.
We got the dude from LAR in FA for that role, Malcolm brown.
