Re-Grading 2012 Draft.... ireland getting some love??

Combo Package.

Ireland draft are mostly mediocre. He hits on the 1st round (what GM doesn't) but misses with mid round picks, then finds gems in the late rounds.

His FA moves are the big busts. Spending big money on flavor of the month players .

I concur. Ireland consistently spent recklessly on free agents and most failed. If Hickey can improve in this field we will probably be a better team.
Jeff got lucky with some decent acorns, but we are now better with a GM working with the Head Coach working with Dawn and the owner just trying to improve the team. I bet there is a whole lot less drama without the prick around the building. It will be interesting if any team picks him up. His reputation for being so obnoxious could make him toxic.

No way Martin turned into the emotional midget he is overnight. I fault Ireland for shoddily doing his Stanford due diligence and then again not for picking up on the in-house vibes before forcing him down Philbin's throat as the LT. Drafting someone so jelly-spined and incapable of moving over to LT thereby putting our high draft pick QB in peril, IMO, earns some severe demerit points, almost single-handedly negating most of the good stuff for which he's now being credited. An d of course the cost of the Mama's boy's inability to put up with a more benign form of hazing that most fraternity pledges undergo, and that is likely as common in most other clubhouses, resulting in the fiasco and embarassment actually pushes Ireland's draft into the red!.

Name another second or third round pick Ireland hit on....

Ireland was bad, because he couldn't identify mid round talent

Ireland was good at Late round picks… 2-3 not so much.. but he was great at finding acorns.. If he would of hit more on those 2-3 rounders he'd still probably be here…

It's tough to grade because at the time we still had Jake Long and a seemingly good OL. I thought Martin seemed like a good pick, protecting the best QB in the draft. With the WR woes in Tannehill's first year, and the OL debacle in year 2, who can really say just how good Miller, Egnew, and Matthews are? This season will be telling.

Although I think Tannehill is great, he's still got a whole lot to prove. OV is really the only sure-fire great player from the bunch.

Did you say "protecting the best QB in the draft"? If you are putting RT above Luck and RGIII, not to mention Russell Wilson and Nick Foles, you are quite a homer.

martin in college protected andrew luck. Read carefully he said in college he protected the best QB

Got a kick out of the high grades for "starters". I mean, yeah, Ireland bat a thousand at drafting starters on a utterly mediocre roster(that he built). But when those players left they had trouble finding jobs and Ireland rarely improved the position they used to occupy.

That draft was classic Ireland. Find a starter(with a top 10 pick no less), find a guy who's a borderline starter(at least for now), and then a whole draft class full of misses. Meanwhile, the Colts walk out with also walk out with a quarterback, and then compliment said quarterback with 2 potentially elite tight ends and a good receiver. The Seahawks walk out with a quarterback, but also nab a stud linebacker and good pass rusher .
But hey, we found a starter or two, we are totally keeping up with every other team in the league. :sidelol:

Koa Misi is pretty good

Koa Misi was drafted to be a pass rusher. He busted. He was able to carve out a niche as a capable, if not great, linebacker. Or, in other words, hes a "starter".

Meanwhile, that NaVorro Bowman guy is kind of a big deal.

I will concede Koa Misi looks like the second coming of Dick Butkus compared to Phillip Wheeler, another brilliant signing by our currently unemployed former GM.

OK, I think you're right about what he meant, athough he didn't actually say "in college."

True he said drafted, andrew luck was drafted that year

Are you kidding me? How can you grade Olivia Vernon, Rashard Matthews, and Ryan Tannehill "A"s?????? The BEST grade possible is an A. These guys are at best "C" grade players. Lamar Miller "B" more like "C". No Pro Bowlers and they do not rank near the top of the any meaningful statistic. Sorry but these are horrible grades.

Can you really give a 6th or 7th round pick anything below a C? It's a crap shoot to begin with, I think the the grade should start at C and then work its way up.
