Rishard Matthews trade speculation.

That's a great point, and yes, I do realize it undermines my belief that we should trade Brian Hartline.

However, here is the thing: I think that this offense needs to put Matthews or Landry on the field, and the fact is that they're only going to get out there in 4 WR sets while Brandon Gibson is out there being the guy a lot of people on this board think Brian Hartline is -- that tough as nails, sure-handed, clutch guy you can look to on 3rd down or in the red zone.

I like Brian Hartline. He's able to bluntly state a lot of things that need to be said to reporters with just enough tact to avoid getting himself in trouble. I think it's awesome that during the off-season, he worked behind the counter in a convenience store -- in life, the guy just gets it. He's easy to cheer for. I think he was a pretty good fit for Mike Sherman's offense and he's been a productive player for us.

But right now, I think his salary is an impediment to putting our best 3 receivers on the field. Just my honest opinion.
I agree, I hope Lazor has the balls to play Hartline between the 20s and take him of the field in the red... That would be the perfect role for Hartline...

If this offense gets to the chip Kelly level in Philly where we run no huddle like they are doing now after a year in it I don't think you need a Brian hartline at all....the scheme will get more production out of guys than their talent really is...I see it in Philly all over that wr core

I like Hartline as well, and believe he will have another VG year. That said, IF Hickey wanted to trade him, he cannot this year. It's a different situation but, somewhat similar to Wheeler, Ellerbe, and Jordan. The contracts Hickey inherited do not allow him to make any moves until next year.

I think we have to bring Thigpen into this discussion as well. I recall reading that Lazor had some plans for him at WR a while back. Not sure if that has changed. Regardless, Landry does not look very good as a returner. Thigpen was below average last year, with horrible blocking but, VG in 2012. This has to enter into the roster decisions.

I don't know...Tanny seems really comfortable with Hartline. He's also working on his 3rd huge season, he would be missed By Ryan T and its quite a gamble to think RM could fill his 1000 yd shoes.

True. Matthews was useless in the last two games when we were missing Hartline and Gibson. The only way he gets open is when defense keys on actual play makers.

Why would we ever take random speculation by our ****ty beat writers seriously?

Hickey and Joe can afford a late rounder for Matthews. The guy has to help NOW.

The Browns should call the Fins.

I have Wallace, Hartline, Gibson, Landry and Matthews making it. Five total.

So we draft him 6th round, develop him for 3 years, and then try to trade him for what another 6th rounder? No thanks, he can play special teams and is a good 4-5 wr

Sorry to all the Thiggy fans out there but I want to see him g

Firstly, I think this is probably coming from inside the Dolphins organization. Barry usually has sound journalism so I doubt he made it up. But, I would guess that it was planted to light a fire under Matthews. The kid has talent, but his head isn't always where it needs to be.

Our pass first offense always needs more WR's. The loss of Keller (a glorified possession WR masquerading as a TE) and Gibson robbed Tannehill of all the men that ran his bread and butter routes. It really showed too.

Landry was insurance. Matthews has developed more and is ready to be a viable option this year. We really want 4 reliable WR's for each game. 5 is nice.
The versatility to line up just about anywhere is needed also...hartline working around lbs on the inside is a kill target...I'm trying to think of other teams 2nd and 3rd tight ends that are interesting

Or we just wait and draft jake McGee who I know lazor likes from his days at UVA
