Schefter: Ross wants Philbin, Ireland wants McCoy

Did anyone actually watch the Schefter video before flipping out? He said that there are people that believe Ross wants Philbin and there are people that believe Ireland wants McCoy. There is no sources or inside information being leaked, it is speculation from people in the league.

That kind of news is not made up I fear. My God, Miami just keeps finding ways to harm itself. Bowles disrespected from third party and more disfunction in Dolphin City. Ireland can not win this IMO, it would signal disfunction to everyone. And people say Fisher could not sense this....come on now. Fisher didn't choose SL because Miami would not give him power, it was far deeper than that!

Look, both guys could be major flops as head coaches or they could be the next Tomlin, Schwartz or McCarthy, none of us know. To conclude either way is ignorant and a knee jerk reaction. This should be Irelands choice. Ross said that he will let football people make football decisions, and he needs to keep his promise and stay out of this.

thats not what he is saying. he said he will pick the coach. he will let football decisions be made by ireland and coach.

That's what I'm saying. I don't understand the people so quick to bash the Dolphins over something the media says. NOBODY knows FORSURE who Ross or Ireland want except for Ross and Ireland. You guys so quick to bash the Dolphins over speculation will believe anything, despite time and time again these media "experts" being wrong. If you want to bash the Dolphins you can find plenty of reasons to do so based on things that have actually happened and are proven and not pure speculation. Shefter says himself "people around the league BELIEVE...." so Ross and Ireland are going around telling "people in the league" who they want? Riiiiight. People around the league believe the Dolphins are going to do everything possible to sign Cowher. Now go praise the Dolphins on a baseless opinion.

I tend to like the idea of giving McCoy the shot, but if this is true, I think Ross feels that Philbin will excite the fan base more, resulting in more people buying tickets. He is probably thinking Flynn, Clements, and maybe some other assistants/FA players, will re-energize Phin fans. My only worry is, what if Flynn doesn't want to come here? What if Clement is promoted to OC in Green Bay when Philbin leaves? What if Oakland snags some of the other assistants /FA who may be available? I really hope Ross wants Philbin based on his coaching merits and not who he may be able to bring with him.
