Steelers Pick - The Gift That Keeps On Giving

I do think it is going to be Rosen and Frohm fighting it out . Young or Thomas at the top of the draft. Frohm with the Pitts pick mostly because Frohm will be playing in the national championship game and his stock will have risen. Guy is a winner. Not my favorite but could turn out to be a good qb. I also believe our staff has a long term plan for Rosen

Abe Frohm? (yes, I know it's not the same) The sausage king of Chicago?

Why wouldn't they draft Tua? Are you assuming Tua will be not available(drafted already or goes back to school)?
Because if he's avialable and has a 50/50 chance of playing FB again then i think the Dolphings absolutely draft him and have him sit-out the year to recover.

"Fromm is a winner" = Fromm doesn't actually have to do anything on his team because everything around him is so good.

Yeah, man. Let's draft that guy. Couldn't elevate a college team, but he'll do that to an NFL team!

Wow....

If you admit it's 50/50 he plays again at all, and it's another 50/50 that he was sucessful, to the point of being good, thats pretty long odds.

It's one thing to bet a horse with long odds, but no rational gambler bets a lame horse, that won't run a race for two years. Especially one that is lame to the point of not being able to train.

I know we are talking about a human, not an animal, but emotion aside, it is a valid analogy.

If he were just some okay prospect then I would agree with you completely.
But his play at Alabama and compared to the nation is ELITE!
There's no argument there when it comes to the numbers.

Based on what I see he's in the class of Manning, Luck etc coming out of college.
So for "me" it this simple. If i had a chance to draft Manning or Luck with an injury, such as Tua, where it's 50/50 would i take the chance? The answer is 100%

I would for a variety of reasons. On of which is the following logic: What are the chances that Love, Herbert, Fromm(although i like him) end up being a better pro?

I would say, given the injury, quite high.

There is also a huge difference in using a day 1 or 2 pick, as opposed to a rd6 or 7.

Agreed 100%

But this is the position you put your organization in when you go years without identifying that franchise QB.
IMO, you lose the right to play it ''safe!" This franchise has no choice until it lands that type of QB.

As a matter of fact, I would draft TWO Qbs..Tua and a project with possible upside like Love or Hurts.

I'm putting Tua on IR for the season and going in with Fitz, Rosen, Love/Hurts

This pick has a chance to be top 12 still
it's a big maybe now. They hit a nice stretch where they had to play teams just as bad as them. The AFC has 3 very good teams (Bal, Ne, Kc) then a bunch of decent ones (Hou, Ind). Everyone else is so terrible the entire conference is out of sorts. The fact that every team get multiple games against the jets, phins, browns, bengals, Broncos. you're talking about half a conference that will be in the top half of the draft.

Pitt hasn't played very well especially on offense. But games remaining against buffalo, jets, bengals and browns have given them a serious chance at 8-8. Thought this would be the year their flaws came to the surface but I guess not. Going to be a slow death for them

Thing going against us the most is it’s tough to win at Pittsburgh

AFCs pretty muddled so we will see.

Last 6 games for Pitt
@Bengals
vs Browns
@Cards
vs Bills
@ Jets
@ Ravens

The good thing for us is that they play 4 of their last 6 on the road.
The bad thing is the only great team they play is the Ravens

I would be shock if they lose to the Benglas or if they beat the Ravens

the other 4 are hard to predict.

Right now that pick is the 16th

If they go 2-4 from here on out then that pick could be 12 to 14......if they go 3-3 then it'll probably stay around 16

If they go 4-2(hope not) then that pick could be the 18th

All this just a bit of math along with some guessing.

They can go 9-7 w that schedule. Possibly 10-6 and a WC.
