Taking being a "FAN" too far

I think that being laid out like that is taking being a "fan" too far. I'm not gonna mock someone for being laid out in fan gear, but I think the cigarettes and 6 pack are a little ridiculous. To each his own I guess, but I would think more people would wanna be laid out in a more respectable fashion. Unfortunately some people go crazy and don't view football as the game that it is.

I think he was talking about the poster, not the bat eater.

A man in Pittsburgh who was a die-hard Steelers fan died recently. So, how did his wife have him displayed at the funeral home.

Get this.....

She had him put in a recliner with a steelers blanket over his lap. A night-stand next to him with a 6-pack of beer and cigs on it. And a remote control in his hand with a small TV across from him playing Steelers highlights from over the years.

Now I consider myslef a Fins fan. I watch all the games. I buy merchandise. I go to games. But this is taking a "game" a little too far. People who name their kids after players. Or put their family second to "games". Or I dont' know.......when they die get laid out at a funeral home in this fashion are people who should be laughed at, mocked, and ridiculed. I've never seen a more perfect example of the word "LOSER" in my life!

 Ozzy is slowly but surely restoring my faith in the elderly. No offense. I mean elderly as compared to me.

I might as well get used to it, but I'm not quite over the hill yet at 42. Still old enough to be your pops though so your right I guess.

BUT I still pull the young women for some reason. Here is my X. I'm trying to keep up the good image of the elderly. :D

Actually I have thought the same thing about you a couple of times. You give me faith that the new generation has lots of hope.

Please tell me your talking about Ozzy the Musician, and not me, Ozzy the FH member? The word Genre makes me think the musician but the poster you replied to was refering to me so.....

If by chance your talking about me please enlighten me as to why?

funerals are for the living to remember and pay homage to the deceased. the family orchestrated this, weather he planned it or not, and were quoted as saying they wanted to remember him as he was when still alive.

though i find the whole concept of "laying" a body out for viewing a bit morbid in it's self, i do understand the need for closure. this family now has a positive memory of their loved one to carry on with them instead of the typical "oh doesn't he look good..." memory. we may find this peculiar and strange but this was not staged for us.

monkey suit, torn up jeans and concert "T" or elaborate living room scene. to each his own. his family appreciated it and that is all that matters.

LMAO!!

I sure hope this is the case. I mean I know I can disturb a few people, but for the most part I respect the posters here.

he may be getting older. he may be embarrassing. but he backs and promotes most of the artists in the "metal genre".

unless, of course, you are referring to Ozzy the poster. if so then never mind...... :D

This thread IS trash (to me, anyway). And I'm not attacking MikeO - he's entitled to every bit of his oppinion on this and any other matter. Then again... so am I.

I don't see the harm in calling this particular thread (better yet, the original post) trash, just as I don't see it in the way this person decided to be remembered, or how MikeO feels about it. But if he can voice his oppinion on that matter, then I can too on this one. Right?

That was my plan too but now I am thinking maybe to be sprinkled over Ralp Wilson stadium during a Fins-Bills game so I can get into the Bills players eyes during an important part of the game, figure it just evens the score for the snowstorms.

This is the ultimate gesture of "taking one for the team". You are my hero.

I dont get it... maybe you can clarify...

If someone calls a thread garbage because someone disagrees is an intolerable insult to the thread...

but....

If someone calls a guy who wanted to be remembered for what he loved to do after he died a "loser", that is a tolerable insult?

It seems to me that they are both opinions. One person calls this disrespectful garbage, while another calls someone who passed on a loser, yet, the person who thinks this thread is garbage is committing an intolerable offense while the other isn't.

I thought personal insults were against the TOS.. Calling someone a loser is a personal insult.

Who are we to judge how this guy wants to be remembered? If he wanted to be on his head, against the wall, and picking his nose, who are we to judge?

It's his family. Everyone should just leave them alone and let them mourn in their own ways.

Good post.

Totally uncalled for if you didn't agree with the way he was buried and it's not for you thats your choice, but to resort to this is weak.

Yeah I ment the musician. I thought the original poster ment the musician too, but I realize now he ment you.
