Any chance we can petition the league to go full throwbacks this year, only for the year...in honor of Shula?
I’d rather honor him by winning.

Besides, Shula’s greatest ability was to adapt and change to win. Going backwards, even with the logo would be disrespecting what made him great.

Just saw Mike Florio say the Phins should permanently put his initials on their jerseys like the Bears have GSH on theirs. He said even though Shula was only the coach vs Halas the owner, Shula was Miami Dolphins football.

That is an actual honor, as opposed to going back to old logo.

Don't have a clue what a Mako is, but the Miami Dolphins is a good name for a team. People just need to get over the 'feminine v manly Dolphin' argument which comes up regularly - its a bloody Dolphin.

People shouldn't need to support a team called the Virginia Viagra Pills to feel that their manhood isn't threatened.
Fastest shark. So fast and powerful it's actually a gamefish like Marlin, Barracuda, Wahoo and Sailfish. Hyper deadly if they decide to be.

My favorite uni's were the aqua on aqua ones. However, it's tough in Miami with an outdoor stadium to go to a dark color. I hate that because to me the aqua jerseys are our home jerseys that we of course never wear at home and often can't wear them away because the other teams actually wear their home jerseys at home. As such, 80% of our games are played in whites which I've never been a fan of. Hard to root for a white uniform as white isn't our color.

Regarding the blue/aqua/teal debate, the color is aqua. I detested the blue and teal that we had some years.

Logo wise, our team is The Dolphins. So, making a Dolphin look mean or hostile is quite a task. The current logo seems to be the closest to being non-silly. With hat said, I think it can be modified a good bit to make us happier.

Hate the new uniforms and logo. But that’s just me
No, it's not just you. We have a great uniform, colors and logo for an aquarium or Oceanside resort, just not for a football team. Too many fans think the team needs to have a mean looking logo, but that isn't going to happen unless the team changes its name and mascot. Instead, looking at the throwback uniforms and logos, the Dolphin was just a dolphin, but no one questioned the teams toughness or had any problem with buying or wearing gear from that era. The team uniforms looked like a football teams, though, and not some generic Miami attraction. That is why the helmet was put on the Dolphin to begin with.

The problem is that Nike just had to be different when they got the uniform contract and a lot of teams are being pushed into an "all new look" and really bought in. Problem is, Nike can't figure out how to make a pro level uniform. All the revisions are XFL worthy at best. Thing is, the Dolphins are the only team with an undefeated season. It is a history worth honoring and the throwbacks do that well. Honoring the past seems even more appropriate now with the loss of Shula. Just go throwbacks already and bring back the old attitude, toughness and intensity with them.

I'm so sick of this narrative. The logo is fine. The uniforms are fine. Please Miami just win games so we can stop living in the past.
Winner, winner! Dude hit the nail on the head.

If and when this team starting winning again people will stop obsessing over the uniforms. Until that happens there is nothing better to do than to piss and moan about a bunch of clothes.

It may have been said somewhere in the thread, but I really liked the orange uniforms, still have my Williams jersey in that one. I don't know if could tolerate it year round, but it is a good look. I could go either way with the logo, we need to evolve and not stay stuck in the past.

Not too mention, I believe, if the logo we have now was the original logo, and the old one was the one we just switched too, the arguments would not be different at all. Most people, whether they know/realize it or not, love the original logo because of tradition and nostalgia.

Fans can go round and round and round about the subjective stuff, like the color choices, the helmet on the dolphin, the shape of the sunburst, the positioning of the dolphin relative to the sunburst (which changed some actually), should the dolphin be cartoony or not, mean looking or not, etc. and everyone is right because those things are subjective. But the truth is, the original logo is terrible from an objective craftsmanship perspective. It was crafted poorly. The dolphin itself looks to have been copied repeatedly with a Ditto machine as it is splotchy and chunky from a printing standpoint...which means, it is the pre digital era version of pixelated. Joe Robbie was notoriously cheap and he got the logo created and printed in the cheapest manner possible.

For quite a while I’ve felt that the Dolphin organization should come up with a permanent Don Shula tribute upon his passing. The Chicago Bears have a tribute to George H. Halas present on the sleeves of their uniforms and I’d really like to see Miami do the same thing for Shula.

I’m curious to see how my fellow Fin Fans feel about this. If there’s a strong enough support, maybe we can launch a grass roots effort to let Stephen Ross know just how strongly his fam base feels about this!!

I think something should be done. doesnt have to be big or fancy just a little something for the goat

Great Idea!!! There should be a permanent remembrance of Shula. Whether it be a uniform insignia, statue, ring of honor we'll soon find out. There are a lot of ways to honor him. My guess they'll be numerous ways that will be a permanent fixtures honoring his memory. Hopefully part of the uniform.
