There is no need to draft a QB or even sign one.

Why is everyone so hell bent on getting a quarterback this year? I get it. I get that having a solid quarterback is the foundation of building a team, but let's not pretend like Miami is a quarterback away from being competitive. There are a lot more things that have to be done in Miami before they can become competitive. At nine or eight, people are advocating trading the farm to move up for RG3, who I don't think will amount to much. And then there are those who advocate signing Flynn, who isn't proven, either, and would cost a lot against the cap.

Simple solution: why not take care of the offensive line and defensive holes this year, and trade down if neccesary, stocking up picks as ammunitions to trade up for a quarterback next year. Until then, the team should be fine. There is no one single formula to building a team, and being so quarterback-focused this year could come back to haunt the team. You make the best of a situation if you don't get the guy you want, rather than settle for the guy you might not want.

Besides, long-term wise, waiting for a new QB in 2013 is much more cost-effective than signing Flynn or trade up for a quarterback who wasn't that highly-ranked in the first place.

So we are in the offseason... The Superbowl has not even been played and you are telling us to wait ANOTHER year..? It was bad enough this year when the season ended before it was half over and now the prudent plan is to lay down ONE MORE... BEFORE IT EVEN BEGINS!!!

You are advocating LOSING as a way of WINNING and yet advocating NOT 'mortgaging' the future by offering up assets to even take a shot at a bonified QB (ANY QB) in the same argument... Hoops is right... This is insanity.

Lol. OP is a local radio personality. It actually has no relevance that I'm saying this. The thread will still continue for pages as if I've said nothing. Which actually makes me laugh more
Hochman isn't this insane. Fake Hochman maybe.

What? Did you just become a fan this year? Have you not witnessed the QB play over the past 12 years? Terrible thread...
So I guess you suggest giving up 2 or 3 years worth of first round picks and some second rounders for 1 guy that is not a guarantee to be a great quarterback (see Joey Harrington, Akili Smith, Tim Couch, and lets not forget, Ryan Leaf). Or maybe you suggest giving away all of these potentially good players for 1 player, and surround him with a shaky offensive line. Matt Moore wasn't the best, but he is serviceable for the time being. There are too many holes on this team to give away draft picks for one player. I know quarterback is important, but I would not trade the farm for one guy. I know that it is a different sport, but look at how the Knicks look after giving away a ton of players for Carmelo Anthony. Then look at the Nuggets that have all of those players that the Knicks stupidly gave away.

We def need to draft a qb...Maybe not in the first two rounds but one needs to be drafted.

last 10 superbowls, with winning qbs draft spot first.....(1 vs1), (2 vs 1) brees from team that didnt draft him, (1 vs UFA) warner from team that didnt initially sign, (1 vs 6), (1 vs 1), (1 vs 6) hasselbeck played 2 games in his gb tenure with little results, (6 vs 1), (6 vs UFA) delhomme had 3 career starts signed by carolina and led them to sb, (9 vs 4) gannon and johnson both journeymen, (6 vs ufa).

QB is hit or miss but in last 7 superbowls at least one of the participants has been a 1st round pick rodgers, roths, manning, manning, GROSSMAN, mcnabb. 6 out of the 20 were not drafted by there team brees, warner, delhomme, hasselbeck, gannon, johnson. and 2 out of the 20 games had a qb who had 3 or less starts before joining their championship team hasselbeck and delhomme. 2 were scrambling qbs mcnabb and rodgers. (assuming you would call rodgers scrambling)

even though i still would like to hold out for UGA's qb who ive been d--k riding for a while now, i dont like the idea or mortaging the future for a qb this year unless it was luck who i dont see us having a chance in hades for. Luck i think would fit the mannings and rothens fit as far as your top tier qb, RG3 might put fans in the seat, but being from charlotte, nc area i know how much that helped panthers win games. i really think flynn could be a product of the system much lick matt cassell was in NE, but if we bring hte entire system here maybe we'd be alright.

its dumbluck tony eason, todd blackedge, and ken o'brien were supposed to be higher ranked than marino, by success elway and kelly were better, but the things marino couldve did with thurman thomas (n prime) or terrell davis.

sorry if this was alot and nobody reads, just bored and felt like wikipediaing up some stuff. whether we have matt moore, flynn, or rg3 starting in 2012.....go fins!

we should draft a guy, if anything in the second round - but no need to go all in for a guy like flynn.

You're not giving up two or three first rounders to get Griffin. You'll give up a first and second and either a late rounder or marginal player. Only Andrew Luck is worth multiple 1st rounders but the Colts are not trading that pick.

Our formula for success hasn't been.....well....successful. I am ready to try another approach and if that's selecting a qb in round 1 or 2 then so be it. If it for some reason doesn't work out then we draw up another strategy, but at least we can say we tried

We have taking several QB's in the 2nd and that has not helped.

How can anyone can say pass on a QB????? After everything we've been through???? After everything we're going through????
One of the worst ideas I've ever heard on this board. Let's fix our biggest problem by avoiding it completely.
