Time to Question the leadership in the Ravens' locker room

Not sure what news programs you are watching, but I've seen those stories all over, particularly the first two. There are tons of articles blasting the 49ers for their handling of the Smith situation. If it was a Phins player, people would be whining about how the media has an "agenda" against the team (I'm sure some 49er fans are).

But I guess that doesn't fit the "everyone is against us" thing. What's funny is that the article in the OP is a Florio article, which is strange because I thought he only went after the Phins...

Yes, it was covered in quite a few places, but nowhere with the same ferocity, one huge example, I remember for months on ESPN national radio, every day the bullygate story was being talked about, in one way or the other, while Ray Rice knocking out his girlfriend slowly got less and less reporting.....I guess hurting a 300+ pound Linemen's feelings is more severe then beating up a women to the point of knocking her out cold.

I remember on just the Mike and Mike show alone, each day seemed like it was more " The new angle on bullygate for today show."

If the Ravens released Rice and we signed him, I can already see the misogynistic comments that would follow.

"She probably deserved it."
"She's just a gold-digger, preparing for that eventual divorce money."
"She was obviously drunk and just fell into his fist."
"The media made the video knowing he would eventually sign with the Phins so they could write inflammatory articles about the team!!1! #mediaagenda"

Did People say those things when Randy McMichael or Brandon Marshall were involved in domestic problems?

I do agree we do have some immature responses sometimes, but I doubt very much many if at all any would be praising or on Rice's side if he came to this team. If anything if Miami were to bring that guy here, the site would explode with signing someone like that.

Yeah Bill Belichick has a mass murderer in his locker room and he is allowed to go silent about it! Our coaching staff is supposed to know that grown men are downstairs talking about each others mother! Get real!

No he doesn't, because the team immediately released him. I think it was the very next day.

Bull****, it's been all over the place. Hell, it's gotten more coverage than when chad Johnson did it during Hard Knocks. The fact is, you probably actively look for more dolphins-related stuff as most fans do, so of course it SEEMS like the media is going after them more. They aren't though.

Are you kidding? People were all about defending Marshall (don't remember the reaction to McMichael) and deflecting with things like, "oh, well, so-n-so on whatever team did it too." All you have to do is go into ANY thread in which the Phins are portrayed in even the slightest of negative lights to see the levels people will go to in order to defend the team out of blind homerism.

There is simply no logical reason that the diabolical media would have some ridiculous agenda against a particular team, especially a team that hasn't been relevant in any way for over a decade (outside of a trick play and injured Brady that earned a surprise playoff appearance).

The people who claim the media has a conspiracy against the Dolphins are profoundly ignorant of (at least) two things.

1. The way other teams are portrayed. I've never met a fan of another team who doesn't think PFT has it out for them, for example.

2. The way the media business works. Why did talk radio obsess over Bullygate? Because their audience wanted to listen to it. They'll talk about whatever people want to hear about. The media as a whole does not hate anything but people not paying attention, and they don't love anything but people paying attention. I mean, the media doesn't exist as a "whole". It's a bunch of niches and fiefdoms. But acquiring customers is the name of the game, just like any other business.

Victimhood is embarrassing, plain and simple. Don't get that guy.

No, I actually don't, when I saw the Rice story, I actually was curious what was going on with Ray Rice, and after a few days to a week, they started talking less and less about the Ray Rice story. On the other hand, the bullygate scandal seem pick up each day, and lasted for quite a while.

I am sure if you try hard enough, maybe you will find something on any story, but I am using ESPN as the measuring stick, considering that is the only media that the whole country will here all over the country, and ESPN started each morning talking about the Bullygate with Mike and Mike, and all through the day was consistently talked about by each host for quite a long time.

I agree that the Chad incident was not talked about as much as Ray Rice, but there are a few things to also consider.

1. Ray Rice beat his GF out cold, Chad hit his wife, but seemed both were exchanging blows.

2. The Dolphins cut him right away after hearing the story......Ray Rice still plays for the Ravens.

when teams win they get the benefit of the doubt. a Pats player likely murdered someone(actually multiple people) and no one questions the Pats.

The Pats fans went ballistic on Belicheat last summer because of that, but once they continued to win games they let it go....winning cures all, if we would have went on a 6 game winning streak to end the season, we wouldn't have been destroyed in the press either....

Miami was going to cut Johnson anyway, if he could still play they wouldn't have cut him.

Gonzo, my point is few to maybe the minority of the people on this site would defend a guy that knocked out his girlfriend. Yes there were some that were defending Marshall, but if there was a video showing Marshall dragging his GF out of an elevator, there would be very few on here that would defend him...in fact, I am sure that a good amount of people here (I know you would) that would be here talking about getting rid of his butt, and rightfully so.

In Marshall's case, there was little info, and it looked like his wife was not all there like Marshall himself. Two crazy people getting into it, and even though one of them did get stabbed, unlike Rice, who did the hitting, it was Marshall that got stabbed.

It'll probably pass thru ESPNs little scroll on the bottom once or twice...maybe get a 1 or 2 minute slight mention on NFL Live if they feel like making a story of it.

As far as I know, espn has not mentioned Hernandez (same w/ Nfln) recently but its been on their bottom line.

And Suh! 6 violent unprovoked attacks of defenseless defenders - and then Schwartz enabled him by naming him as a co-captain. And I won't even get into the racial possibilities. Using the playing field to vent his own uncontrollable rage.. and then he gets rewarded? Where's the logic in that?

There is no logic in professional sports.... or politics.

Sad, but that seems to be the case. Manziel goes to Vegas and the world flips out on him and the Browns. Gronk was there with him, but nothing said about that or the Patriots.

THIS!!! Im mind blown how theres so much attention to this Manziel BS (which is becoming really annoying already) and NOTHING is said about Gronk...lol...media is trash.

Wow, your last paragraph is exactly what I'm talking about. Straight up defending him. I can see it now, "uh, what if she was hitting ray rice before they got on the elevator. We'll never know. All I'm saying is that she could be just as crazy as him. I mean, if he was a jet, then obviously it was all him, but I this case we just don't know and the media is blowing it out of proportion."

I saw a Hernandez story on ESPN and CNN this morning.

1. Excuse.

2. He was going to get cut anyways and it made it much easier, plus there wasn't as much money tied up in him. Same reason Aldon Smith hasn't been cut. Hernandez was cut because, well, murder.

As for coverage, not sure what ESPN version your watching, but I've seen the Ray Rice story a few times. What else are they going to say on the subject? NFL players have been beating on their girlfriends for years, so the problem is well known and it's certainly being discussed more now than Bullygate. The ****ty work environment found in organizations is a completely new thing, so of course it generated more lengthy discussions. People are clearly interested in the subject despite you clearly just wanting it to go away.
