Toub

Yeah but thats the thing, his unit isnt just great at returning kicks and punts, they're also great at blocking punts and field goals, best coverage unit too... I mean, His UNIT is ELITE in every aspect of special teams...

and yet they still dont promote him

the guys got the best returner period in the history of the damn league...the best ever...of course his units gonna look good

Promote him to what? He's already at the top of his game.

top of special teams coach im pretty sure thats not the second ranked coach on team. They named Marinelli assistant head coach.
why did they pass over Toub for this

But in the last four years they've sent two other kick returners (besides Hester) to the Pro Bowl...Daniell Manning and Johnny Knox.

Im all for hiring Dave toub as our assistant head coach/special teams coach.
head coach I will pass just like the rest of the league.

And of course fans are going to love him like nubs likes to bring up in every Toub thread. They're most exciting player not named Forte has made that unit, period. Toub's staff would consist of who?

I have also heard that Toub is a good coach from Bears Fans. Why worry about how many Dolphin fans don't know about him and have problems if they hire him. Everyone Knew about Fisher and thought he was the answer to every problem the Dolphins had. Well I guess they were shown that he didn't really feel that the Dolphins were everything to him and he didn't feel they were worthy of his coaching. Maybe it is time we find someone that hasn't been put on the pedestal of coaching and is ready to work for the team and to prove themselves not someone that interviews and feels that the world owes them.

Oh yeah, like Cam Cameron?

I like Toub for what his peers say about him, his units excel year in and year out, he is a former strength and conditioning coach who stresses discipline, and as a ST coach he touches all areas of the team at once. He also takes young players and molds them into a player.

My concerns are putting together a staff, is he going to run the West Coast offense, and general lack of experience as a head man.

There are good candidates out there, but something about Philbin I'm not a fan of (not that he doesn't call plays, your HC normally won't either), something else I'm not seeing there. I guess my top two would be Zimmer and Toub. I think Zimmer's persona wears out more quickly than Toub's does, so I lean that direction.

Will be interesting to see how it turns out now.

if you haven't noticed it by now nubs would walk the plank for these guys if they told him to...he's on board with everything they'll ever do...just the kind of fan he is...so i don't bother trying to beat sense into him anymore...

they pulled hester off the units for a little while to have him concentrate on being a wr and that failed miserably...so yeah manning and knox got run and did well...and they're both quality returners no question...

i still think that the odds on this guy being a hit for us are low...i'd like to see him get promoted to something else first and have success and THEN be a legit candidate

In my non-narrow minded perspective, Toub intrigues me as well. It's not like the guy is a strength and conditioning coach; Under a head coach there are 3 coordinators OC, DC and ST. Just because the guy wasn't an OC or DC, doesn't mean he has no credentials to be a HC. Offense and Defense simply get far more press, while Special Teams is the red headed step child.

I consider myself to be pretty knowledgable about football, but I know enough to know that Andy Reid has forgot more football in a day than I will probably ever know in my life. If he thinks Toub will be a great HC, along with the high respect it sounds like he receives from players and coaches around the league, that's enough for me to know that he is at least qualified for the job. He also obviously impressed our front office enough to get a second interview. I like the way this feels, sign me up.
