True measurement of Chris Grier.

There is a simple measurement for how good or bad Chris Grier is. I know that we can all point to this move or that move that didn’t work out or that a better move could’ve been made, but the true measurement of Chris Grier and his skill or success is how talented is the roster he has a assembled, and then how far does it get this year.

On paper, this looks like the most talented Dolphins roster I’ve seen in 30 years. For all of the criticism, this is a talented roster.

The problem is that this team has fundamental problems. Specifically the oline. If Tua gets hurt year in and year out because Chris Grier cant protect him then it doesnt matter what else he does. If the run game is the last in the league again this year after this guy made no moves to improve the oline or running backs that will be negligence on his part.

He's obtained three excellent linemen in Hunt, Williams, and Armstead... and brought in Christian and Feeney to take runs at Jackson and Eichenberg. How in God's name do you call this 'indifference' or 'neglect'?
Your pinning an argument on Geron Christian and Dan Feeney. Good Luck with that. Dan Feeney, while a great lockerroom guy, you don't want him any where near the playing field. Christian, there is a reason he has played for four different teams in 6 years.

Grier is unquestionably great at navigating trades and managing the cap. His only downfall is his ability to draft and find those late round gems. Then again, we don’t know how much pull he has vs allowing his coaches to pick players.

That said, the Dolphins have hit on a lot of draft picks, but could be better.

What would you have done differently?

Starting a thread that’s singing the praises of the GM, (or anyone in the front office) while we’re still in an ongoing 23 year playoff drought, should be considered baiting.

Let’s actually accomplish something before we anoint anyone with anything.

He’s not the worst gm and he’s certainly not the best.

He has his strengths (ability and willingness to trade, finding CBs, late and undrafted players) and his weaknesses (inability to draft quality OL, inability to understand that injured players will continue to get injured).

He’s had one outstanding draft and a few mediocre ones. He’s been hit or miss… like any other GM.

How we do this year can certainly change the narrative A LOT (god willing), but until something changes, then he’s still middle of the road (not such a coincidence that our record has been middle of the road the entire tenure, as well).
Lotta religious references in here… I’m trying to visualize Grier praying. 🙏🏻
