Tua needs to consider retirement...

Why didn’t Grier and Miami tell Tua this offseason to prove it this year and we will talk next offseason? The guy played one year and now we tear up his fifth year option at $23M to sign him to $167M?? Absolute insanity. Let him sit this year if he wanted to hold out and pay him nothing while fining him for breach. Absolutely asinine to sign him in a prove it year. Fins could’ve at worst franchised him if he went off this season and actually stayed healthy.

Catastrophic decision for the franchise.

It's called a settlement. Ever heard of contract law? It's not like he can sign the contract and just sit and get paid.
Yes and No. So if he just said I am done then a settlement. But if Miami/NFL/Doctors won't clear him to play and he says I want to play then Miami is on the hook. Basically they can cut him at anytime or PUP him year to year.

Yeah I am the point I am telling him to call it a day. We will suffer on the scorecard and standings but his life is more important than that in my view. He's got a wife and two young kids. Not worth the risk anymore.

We will take our lumps and rise again.

Yeah probably all of them. People don’t realize how many go undiagnosed or not reported.

Aikman had 10 diagnosed in 12 seasons though, Farve estimates over a thousand, Bradshaw had 6 and never left any of the games. I’m sure there’s more but those off the top of my head.

I doubt he retires and he’d lose a lot of the bag upon retiring.
But were they so bad that they were unresponsive and posturing before gaining consciousness again?

Well, here is the squeeze. With that new contract we can't move on until 2027. If he retires all that garunteed money comes to the cap RFN. Its crippling.

If he does retire and if one wanted to play hard ball (I personally would not) I think the Dolphins could go after the prorated portion of the signing bonus which would help some.

In the end, I think best case 'Tua Retirement' sceanrio he stays a member of the roster (even if on IR) for the next couple years. Otherwise the Dolphin's cap is hosed.

I personally do not think he will hang the cleats up until he is outright forced to. The same mentality that made him dive head first into a defender will also prevent him from giving up the sport.

I’m not sure, he’s a little before my time.

I believe it’s something like 2/3rds of fencing responses result in unconsciousness but only 11% of total concussions result in unconsciousness.

The thing is though fencing and losing consciousness don’t always equate to severity. They have to do with the specific part of the brain being injured. Player can have a worse injury to a different part of the brain than another player that shows a fencing response.

Might not be up to him at this point.
How would it not be up to him? He will eventually clear concussion protocol. If he then wants to play, are the Dolphins going to say he can no longer play? Will he then demand a trade?

I love the guy as a player but we really need to think of ourselves, as a team, and think about what we can do moving forward. Have to hope we can draft a guy to eventually overtake the team. Can McDaniel stay afloat until then?
The whole team is built around tua but McDaniel is supposed to be a guru

Do you think the number of neurologists willing to clear him will increase in direct proportion to the number of concussions he has? I don't see it this way, especially given how egregious Tua's concussions look. You can diagnose it from your couch.

I said it before he was drafted… And I’ll say it again? He’s a fragile quarterback, who is injury prone he’s not the quarterback who will lead this team to the championship! Add to that… This football team is soft and a reflection of its coach! we like the coach we should’ve kept go to Detroit!

Trade to what team. Hopefully the nfl steps in and says he can't. This is bigger than football

I hope it is not up to Tua. It will be a medical decision. What qualified NFL doctor will sign off on his return? This will be the best for Tua and take the decision out of his hands. If it happens this way, he will get that guaranteed money. If he retires, he loses the guaranteed money but some will get paid for the two games he did play.

The NFL PA will probably step in if the NFL prevents him from playing again.

I honestly think he should retire but I don't think he will.
