Again. No money for that but you keep pushing that bull ****.
The cap goes up every year... So if they tag Tua they can use the new cap money... Also dead cap monies from bad contracts in the past go away... So that frees up money. They can absolutely Tag Tua and afford to pay him.

They cannot clear $40 million by the start of the league year to tag him.

If front office and Tua can't come to terms . Let him play his option year. I would rather this doesn't come to pass but its a business for both parties.

Exactly, and the number might go up a few million year over year but it won't be an astronomical 20 million or something.

Too many people are investing to much time into this and taking it personal.

Tua has issues? What qb doesn't? He's young enough and has enough from coaching and players to hopefully improve.

Can he regress by simply just not progressing...yes. I trust that Grier is fully aware of this and he will try and structure the deal as best as he can.

Keep in mind Grier must work within the rules of today. If next year for example things change and qbs are cheaper well unfortunately it is what it is like what happened when rookie deals were put in check.

If we need more money and must wait for the cap next season and guys like Armstead to fall off and give relief then Grier will wait and it's OK.

People are acting like if we give the guy 60 million instead of 58 we are doomed. Like chill out. We can and will get this contract right and I'm sure that's why it's taking so long...because Grier wants to get it right.

They already are paying 23.... So... it is only an extra 17 they have to come up with the cap increase alone would do that.
None of that is true. Please stop posting it.

I explained it to you previously when you posted that.

Either your knowledge of cap mechanics is superficial at best, or your math skills are suspect.

Tua's cost is not reflected in the 2025 cap projection at all, therefore just subtracting the two numbers is an inherently flawed statement. Why would it be? He isn't under contract. The tag # would be 100% addition to next year's cap which we are currently projected to be, IIRC, around 20m in the red.

They would need to clear the entire tag # + the 20m they are already over.

I'm not saying it would be impossible to tag him, it isn't. Just that your post is not how the cap works

Didn’t we try that his first 3 years.
Actually, in his first year the offense was tailored to Fitzmagic with Chan Gailey. The second season was the 2-headed(3-4?) monster when Gailey left Flores got broomed. They got it right with Frank Smith in Tua’s third year and he went on to lead the league in YPA and QB rating.
