Someone should do a poll (not the blonde chick you have your eye on that's actually Swedish) to see where people stand.

You are comfortable signing Tua for

a) 40 mill a year
b) 50 mill a year
c) 60+
d) I don't care just get it done
e) don't sign him at all.

My feeling is you will get a bunch like me who go D. There will be a few that go E. These ones are easy to spot - sticky aqua types etc

The ones that say 40 is ok but 50 is not are interesting.

No. I think you have listed the entire contents of the "I have way too much time on my hands let me make shįt up speculation wise" notes.
I don't think that's "fair".

Most of what we do here is speculation and nothing @MrChadRico said is so far out there as to be crazytalk or invalid.

After all, you're the one who said you didn't understand why it's taking so long. Now you don't want speculation on the subject?

Well, you are free to start a poll thread, but surely you realize it will just be a repeat of the same tired pissing match by the usual suspects?

Yeah I know, was expecting one of the aqua types to start one tbh. Guess they haven't quite figured out how to set one up and slant the Q and possible As to further their cause.

Anyways we are 1600+ replies on this one so maybe we go for 2500+ and call it a day?

Failing that we could start another one trading Tua to the Jags for Lawrence. Dak is not really doing it for me. Must be the hair lol

You seem to be ignoring the fact that the Dolphins (and other teams) have options other than signing their existing QB for more money and years.
Please understand that the "market" includes inventory of dozens and dozens of QB's, from rookies to veterans.
lol dozens and dozens? There's arguably only 5 to 10 QBs in the world as good or better than Tua. Get real.

Our interest in Burrow pre-draft, Watson during his crazy off-field issues, tampering with Brady, now low-balling Tua.

Evidence is kinda mounting up.
The caveat there is how much was Ross (probably the Brady thing), and how much was our previous head asshat (probably the Watson thing).

It's probable that Tua was not the asshat 's choice, but Ross/Grier had the option at the time to go with Herbert.

I don't know how certain we can be about any of it, TBH.

I am somewhat interested in the results tho, bc I think alot of the ppl who initially were in the camp "Just pay Tua" might actually hesitate to okay 55+ million per year.

I'm not advocating we don't pay Tua, but at the same time, I can understand the FO's hesitation.

Mahomes only makes 45 million per year..... and the Chiefs have had to jettison alot of good players to make things work "cap-wise."

I can understand Tua's position as well, but if we're being brutally honest, if Tuas making 55 million per year, we all expect he improves on his first four seasons. Right? So from this perspective, we're paying 55 million per, on Tua's potential of getting better. Which is risky.

If Tua was making 55m and we go 1-4 to end the season and Tua looks awful in the Wildcard game again and we lose. Are we all still happy about the "Market" contract?

I believe Tua can reach this next level, but it only takes one of: Ross, Grier or McD, to say, "We should wait" and Tuas not getting a deal this offseason

I am of the opinion that the 55m per is not the issue. It isn't real anyway.

I believe the issue is the guarantees. Guarantees beyond 3 years, and big guarantees against injury are probably things the team is hesitant to do.

I highly doubt they would have gotten that far with Watson if it was just Flores.

Meh.

Do we really know how far it got?

My feeling at the time was Ross actually put a stop to it by saying he wouldn't even consider it unless Watson's legal issues were addressed first. Something he knew was impossible, given the situation.

I think the fact you heard that means they were pretty far in the process with Watson and the only reason he isn't a Dolphin is because of the legal stuff.

“Ross tried to set up a phone call with Watson the night before the Nov. 2 trade deadline this season to see if the quarterback would resolve his legal situation to facilitate a trade. Watson wasn’t prepared to settle and refused to speak to Ross.”

Believe what you will.
